In the trial prosecution evidence. Aha.

OP posts:
MadameDefarge · 26/11/2013 19:42

Indeed custardo.

lemonmuffin · 26/11/2013 19:43

have a look at the news sites, do your own research.

Of course they're only allegations at this stage

NicolaSeven · 26/11/2013 19:44

um, MadameD I was being facetious? Sorry, I thought that was obvious from my post.

To clarify, I don't think Nigella is a crackwhore. I think it's really, really suspicious that this information has been tacked onto the sisters' case AFTER the divorce.

Or to make it even clearer, I am on Nigella's side!

whatever. If you have any better sources, let us know.

MadameDefarge · 26/11/2013 19:46

my dear, I have of course looked at the news websites.

The only 'evidence' atm is an email from CS.

There ya go.

Think about it. Why would you want this kind of stuff to be splattered over the newspapers, even if it were true?

Any decent parent or stepparent would do their best to keep it private to protect the dcs involved.

ProfessorDent · 26/11/2013 19:49

I struggle with his weekly piece in the London Evening Standard, I don't know how much he pays to have it published, but it makes the whole thing seem like some Soviet publication with obligatory scribblings from party members.

MadameDefarge · 26/11/2013 19:49

sorry MSbouvier, I get it now. But unfortunately MN is in the position of being the publisher of our posts, so we do have to be ultra careful in what we post.

lemonmuffin · 26/11/2013 19:49

Absolutely.

And any decent parent would not be taking any kind of illegal substance. Allegedly.

MadameDefarge · 26/11/2013 19:50

oh professor, no payment from him!

And then get them to lend you some...

MadameDefarge · 26/11/2013 19:53

I know plenty of decent enough parents who take drugs.

Not saying I think its great. But as long as they parent adequately and look after their dcs and hold down a job adequately then its not my job to judge.

What is the difference between a bottle of wine between two and a couple of lines of coke?

Each have their own affects on the body. Each will have their impact on the ability to care for dcs in their care.

Which one is the most detrimental to parental care I would not care to judge.

One is illegal, one is not.

I have my own thoughts on this.

Animation · 26/11/2013 19:57

It doesn't say much for Saatchi's integrity does it really .. he attempts to assassinate his ex wife's character publicly, AND also her children's.

He kind of confirms that he's not a very nice man. We can all breathe a sigh of relief and say good on you Nigella for getting rid.

NicolaSeven · 26/11/2013 20:00

No problem MmmeD Smile

I think this whole thing reeks of a cynical attempt by CS to win the hearts of the public. Except that as upthejunction points out, the public don't really give a shit.

Upthejunction1 · 26/11/2013 20:02

Here here...MD...2 bottles of wine on a Saturday night, and a gram of coke whilst talking over garbage TV..Or playing music, kids away in grand parents, you have worked hard all week, great way to let your hair down , every now and then, and more often than not, the bedroom rocks till the small hours...yeah you wake up with a raging hangover, but a smile on your face.:)

Jellykat · 26/11/2013 20:04

Agree with Animation .. Good on Nigella for getting rid!
He really is a nasty piece of work.

Animation · 26/11/2013 20:04

I just hope her TV employers take no notice. I love her work - and long may it continue.

noddyholder · 26/11/2013 20:08

I think if you are 18 and you have a parent who takes drugs and is happy for you to join in it is not really a choice tbh. A lot of children repeat the mistakes of the parents for various reasons. Mind you looking at Twitter this story is going to get a lot nastier so am hiding this now and hoping the adults involved can see the bigger picture

lemonmuffin · 26/11/2013 20:15

what noddy said.

nooka · 26/11/2013 20:33

The majority of parents drink alcohol (a drug) and offer, at an appropriate age, to share with their children, do they have no choice either? If the children in question are effectively adults and the drug in question weed then I really don't see the cause for outrage. No one describes a parent offering their child a beer as pushing after all.

I've only read the BBC piece but I'm really wondering about the defense who appear to be suggesting that as the sisters in question were effectively blackmailing NL they did nothing illegal. I'm with the prosecutor on this one "These are totally scurrilous allegations that have been forwarded by the defence"

Brices · 26/11/2013 20:38

Do you think this story will affect Nigella more in America?

pootlebug · 26/11/2013 20:39

From the Telegraph article "She had a verbal understanding with two Italian “kitchen confidantes” that they could use Mr Saatchi’s company credit card for their personal use in return for an “understanding” that they would keep quiet about her drug use, it is claimed."

Hmm. If I were a multi millionaire trying to hide my coke habit from my husband in this way I'd let them have my own credit card. £300k would barely make a dent on her fortune - Why the heck would she risk him finding out by letting them use his?

Noddy - you're talking still as if it's real - it's alleged.
