In the trial prosecution evidence. Aha.

OP posts:

I don't think they are saying NL was completely out of it and unable to control them - it was kind of a benefit for them covering her tracks so that CS didn't find out. It sounds dangerously close to blackmail to me but...

You're right about CS. Not used to not getting his own way. Wait for stories to start emerging about her pre-CS and pre-JD: abortions in her youth/"intimate" photos/promiscuity, anything that will mean her having to defend herself publicly again.

MissBeehiving · 04/12/2013 17:32

I'd much rather watch Nigella than Hugh Fearnley "Let me jack off in your hair while you sleep" Whittingstall.

noddyholder · 04/12/2013 17:37

OMG Hugh! lol

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 04/12/2013 19:41

I'm pretty sure I've seen Nigella on US TV.

SanityClause · 04/12/2013 19:53

That's what I've thought all along, as well, lala - blackmail. It's not something I would want to be admitting to, if I was one of the Grillo sisters.

Matsikula · 04/12/2013 20:09

I think the point about the US is that she is not a citizen (unlike Martha Stewart, presumably) and can be denied a work visa for TV appearances and book promo tours - though maybe she'd need an actual criminal record for it to be an issue. What the US public think of her doesn't really come into it.

I think that his dragging their kids into the row is far more morally reprehensible than hurting her career in the US though.

Bakingnovice · 04/12/2013 20:10

Nigella has come across as honest, generous and witty. Loved her before this and like her ever better now. I wonder what exactly she means by 'intimate terrorism'. Sounds brutal.

CS is a monster.

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 04/12/2013 20:11

She doesn't need a work visa to sell books or resell her TV shows in the US, though.

Matsikula · 04/12/2013 20:21

TheDoctorineOfSanta to sell well, she definitely would need a work visa. It's a competitive market, so she would need to do the rounds of chat shows, book signings etc. Maybe he was hoping she would perjure herself and risk getting a record. Or maybe he's just lost it a bit.

bluebayou · 04/12/2013 20:38

The USA take quite dim view of drug usage .

lalalonglegs · 04/12/2013 20:56

Yes, bluebayou, but, to be fair, they don't usually hold it against slebs: Russell Brand, Amy Winehouse and the Stones don't seem to have had any problems getting in (to name the first few well-documented users that came into my head). I am sure that Saatchi meant to humiliate Nigella and damage her image irreparably, but I think the US angle is a bit overblown. It would probably raise her profile over there and mean she got all sorts of Oprah-style confessional interviews.

Golddigger · 04/12/2013 21:13

I think that she will be damaged somewhat, career wise.
She is sold as sort of kitchen perfect, but that isnt really going to work now imo.

CS hasn't really done himself any favours at all. He comes across as a spiteful cruel bully. Not that I thought any more of him before the trial but it's all rather backfired.

I hope Trinny is reconsidering, silly woman

Golddigger · 04/12/2013 21:19

In the line of work that cs is in, I should imagine that the people he interacts with, are already well aware of what he is like.

Animation · 04/12/2013 21:41

Just read the news - well said Nigella!

And yes CS does come across as a spiteful bully - and it is looking like the trial has backfired on him.

merrymouse · 04/12/2013 21:59

I know the tv shows have nice kitchens and loads of dinner parties, but I don't think her personal life has ever been portrayed as perfect.

deadduck · 04/12/2013 22:05

I'd much rather watch Nigella than Hugh Fearnley "Let me jack off in your hair while you sleep" Whittingstall.

PLEASE can somebody explain to me what that is about???

MadameDefarge · 04/12/2013 22:11

christ if you were going to condemn every parent who has smoked weed in front of their kids there would be vast swathes of society even more demonised than they actually are.

Not saying I like it. But on the level of child abuse I am afraid, and you will find most ss will agree, that it is not a hanging offence.

MissBeehiving · 04/12/2013 22:11

According to a Mner who DTD with HFS, she woke up to find him wanking into her hair. At which point he said something like "don't worry, it's just my thing"

MadameDefarge · 04/12/2013 22:11

deadduck, it is alleged, ahem, that the sprightly one has a particular fetish for this practice with his amours.

LittleBearPad · 04/12/2013 22:12

Pretty much what it says deadduck

Sod the US. She clearly has a presence there already otherwise she wouldn't be doing the programme in the first place. Nigella will be ok.

However CS will remain a miserable, and increasingly lonely bastard. Run Trinny run.

Juliet123456 · 05/12/2013 06:41

I don't think she needs to worry. She will manage to earn a living whether in US or here. Her children are older so she will not need quite as much as when they were younger anyway (and she is taking no money, no divorce settlement fromCS which is very sensible and avoids a lot of trouble and is a sense is a triumph she has won over him).

The main achievement for her is being rid of someone who was not making her happy. I doubt anything else much matters.

mrswarbouys · 05/12/2013 08:49

Hugh "Let me jack off in your hair while you sleep" Whittingstal

explain please???

bigbrick · 05/12/2013 08:53

I think Nigella will be fine in her work afterwards and after some time will be more successful. I have a lots of respect for her from reading the news. I thought she was just rich & living a fabulous time & now I see she wasn't and all that has been said in the press. She is fortunate to be able to go to court to present her side of things when many women can't do this.
