Last night's events took a lot of people by surprise. Just wondered how you would resolve the various plot threads running throughout this series. This is what I'd do for starters..
Bates is going to keep his concerns for Anna to himself. Barrow may sense his vulnerability, encouraged by Green. Anna will run away for a bit. Barrow will get his valet job back while Bates is in a distracted state.
Gregson has to be the most resourceful bloke ever.. I'd have him and Edith moving to Germany and reporting on the political mood there... They'll come back with very interesting gossip and a few new 'friends'. Rose will be silly enough to take a shine to someone with far-right tendancies.
Mrs Hughes, is a woman who keeps stuff to herself which is going to be a problem, for her: By staying silent it makes her vulnerable too. Green will get wind that she 'knows'.... She'll have a spell in hospital dutifully watched over by Mrs Crawley. A Doctor / Nurse romance will blossom.
Branson will spend more time below stairs as he falls prey to the Lady's maid. He will also spark up a friendship with Lord Gillingham. He may overhear something about Green in the nick of time. He'll confess all to Mary and Lord Grantham.
The problem with Green will get resolved when Mary and Lord Grantham set the hounds on him at the end of the series during the Christmas Hunt.
