Anyone involved in bridge pile up today?

Just seen this on news. Is that M.P.right in saying people were driving like idiots. Driving in fog terrifies me. I think most people slow right down don't they?

Of course some of them were driving like idiots. It 'amuses' me how the fog was described as 'hazardous'- no, the driving that occurred in it was hazardous. There have already been calls for 'an enquiry' regarding the 'safety' of the crossing; all because we've reached a point where no one takes responsibility. Someone/thing else must be to blame, not the fact I was hurtling along at 70mph with no lights in 20 feet of visibility.

I'd like to see everyone who rear-ended the vehicle in front charged with dangerous driving, but of course they can't be because I'm not sure there's any way of telling who stopped in time but was then rear ended by the moron behind, shunting them into the vehicle in front.

We have to be very grateful no one, yet has died as a result; but we have to stop blaming 'the conditions' and blame the drivers who failed to drive accordingly.

I agree with Erebus no-one can honestly think that they can drive at normal speeds in those conditions. And there was reports that some cars had no lights on at all, never mind fog lights! utterly ridiculous

I wonder if there were any overhead cameras recording oncoming car to be able to identify those without lights? A bit of a highly-publicised mass prosecution might help.

I mean, I know 'hogging the centre lane' and 'tail gating' have been beefed up as offences just a month or two ago, but has anyone, ever, hear of a prosecution for such things?

Iwasnt involved with the accudent, but I was driving in the very thick fog this morning and saw people with no lights on! I only saw them as they passed me - visibility without lights was about 10m, maybe 20m with lights and fog lights.

Some people were driving pretty fast, the. Slamming on the brakes as they almost fell over another car

Driving standards in general are shite, steadily getting worse over the past 10 years or so.

People don't care, idiots think they are invincible. It is those idiots that walk away from crashes unscathed and leave others to pick up the pieces whilst blaming 'road' conditions and looking to make some money from insurance claims.

I can just imagine the kind of driving that caused this pile-up. It may have been down to a few idiots, once the crash happened the road conditions then would have had an impact on sensible drivers ability to avoid the danger ahead.

I spent 3 years using motorways daily - 300-500 miles a week. I do not miss that job (current job is 3 miles from home - heaven!!)
