i cant do links, so dont know if this works, but this story is unbelevable (SP). Its only 45minutes from me, and probably closer to some others.

\link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/5089652.stm\its shocking

Chip shop woman aged 98 award MBE??

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 18:53

or \link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_west/5089652.stm\this one?}

themoon66 · 17/06/2006 18:56

How weird. She hasnt been reported missing.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 18:57

I know it sounds really strange.

themoon66 · 17/06/2006 18:59

Perhaps one of the blokes was her dad, so that's why she wasnt reported missing. Where is her mum? Scary. You hear such horrible stories about child custody cases.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 19:00

The car is obviously not registered either.

JoolsToo · 17/06/2006 19:01

seems a bit of a half story - 'putting a girl in the back of car', from where? that in itself is not unusual, but obviously looked dodgy to onlookers.

No child reported missing?

curious

themoon66 · 17/06/2006 19:02

I took it to mean they'd been seen putting her into the boot, rather than the back seat.

SaintGeorge · 17/06/2006 19:03

Only scanned the story but am I missing something?

If she isn't reported missing why are they assuming something is wrong?

My DH took DS2 to Asda last week at 10pm and put him back in the car afterwards. I don't recall it getting on the news.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 19:03

Yeah it could be copmpletley innocent in that she could have been unwell with temp hence partially dressed and limp and maybe being taken to A&E, the police have probably checked this out though.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 19:04

they're are probably more concerned as people have reported it as suspicious and now they've realised car isn't known to the dvla.

spacecadet · 17/06/2006 19:08

ive read the news report and it says that the child was being placed in the boot.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 19:11

That is shocking but why the hell has child not been reported missing? I can only assume it's a parent or carer that's done something bad, god I hope not. Sad

jofeb04 · 17/06/2006 19:39

thanks for the links
On the local news (being in wales) it said that someone had seen them lift her out of the rear seats and into the book, and that she was also partly dressed.
I really hope it is a mistake, but it scares you when its so local. especially as that f**k from Cardiff abducted that little girl and got life, but its only 5years (also very local to me).

The car was also spotted in london a few days before, and crossing the 2nd seven bridge later that night.

SaintGeorge · 17/06/2006 19:45

Right, that makes more sense. I read back of the car to mean the back seats - that's how we would describe them.

All very strange then.

peachyClair · 17/06/2006 20:37

Deffo boot, and she was only partially clothed Sad (also Welsh local news)
poor poor little mite- I so hope she is OK.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 23:00

Dp just heard on the news that they've found the girl alive and have arrested two people dp couldn't tell em anymore than that so i'll try and find a link.

alexsmum · 17/06/2006 23:05

thank god they've found her. there could never be an innocent explanation for putting a child in the boot of a car surely?

VVVQV · 17/06/2006 23:07

Glad she has been found safe and well.

spacecadet · 17/06/2006 23:07

thank goodness shes safe..im guessing its family???

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 23:07

I wouldn't have thought so it's really weird as she was asleep/limp when they put her in.

Ledodgyherring · 17/06/2006 23:08

sorry my post was to alexmum re innocent explanation.
