coventry paper published that daniel pelkas dad eryk is struggling to get enough money together to pay to have daniels body taken home to poland so his family there can hold a funeral for him.

on facebook theres a page- 'justice for daniel pelka'- who are in touch with karolina pelka (eryks wife) to try and raise donations. sadly, most people on facebook/twitter who were previously shouting outrage about his abusers seem to be turning the other cheek, saying its a scam and 'what have the polish ever done for us?' Hmm but its not for the polish and daniel was born in britain.
i know its legit as the paper published the link to the page mrs pelka made:

www.facebook.com/pages/Help-to-Daniel/138703149673576

it has bank/pp details on there, and that comes up as karolina pelka, in polish currency.

heres the article: www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/daniel-pelka-family-launch-appeal-5717776

it saddens me that so many are so negative and cynical. i know people dont have much money, but a pound here n there... mounts up. in the meantime, the poor mite is still lying in a mortuary after a whole year Sad

the govt rejected a petition set up to try and get the authorities employees who failed him to foot the bill between them, but they said its 'not a govt matter'Blush

hes just a 4 year old child who needs to be laid to rest Sad theres a pic on the page of him in a beanie hat... and he looks so skinny Sad

I'm sorry, but I think that Daniel should have a funeral here, in his home country. I'd be worried that the money wouldn't be used for its intended purpose. I think that the authorities should pay for and arrange the funeral.

I'm sorry but I agree with hidden home. I know it's awful but maybe if his dad had been more active in his life I'd feel different.

I always feel a bit puzzled by appeals like this. Why can't he be cremated and just go in a relative's hand luggage? Sorry if that sounds flippant, but I don't know how to phrase it more tactfully. It costs THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of pounds to ship a body- all seems a pointless waste of money.

They're probably Catholics and won't want cremation. I still don't see why the authorities won't take responsibility for the funeral. If an old person with no family/money dies in this country, a welfare funeral is organised for them.

If the funeral was taking place in this country, I'd gladly donate, but I'd never send money abroad, you just don't know what it'll be used for Sad

That's very sad indeed.
