Has the world gone mad? Another boy stabbed to death

15 year old in London somewhere.
Surrounded by 8-10 boys, one of whom stabbed him in the heart.
I just can't see how a knife amnesty is going to change anything.
What will?
The sad thing is, it's not shocking anymore.

It's very scary how often these stories are in the news, isn't it? And it can't be just that we're hearing about them more often, because teens stabbing each other always makes the news.

I just can't understand what makes somebody want to carry a knife, and then to think it's a good idea to put that knife into somebody else.

A girl I was friends with in 6th form carried a knife
She was barking. Nice, but definitely barking.

BlushI disagree actually Hunker! Where I used to live there were several stabbings and even shootings didn't make national news. Two teenage boys died last summer, from stabbings. A triple shooting didn't make the news either around the same time. So I think a certain amount of this is about media focus. Smile

out at 11 o'clock at night - on a school night - in the middle of london.

times haven't changed that much to justify the complete lack of parenting here.

i mean if it was a saturday - then i could get my head around the parenting issue.

but as is. i just can't

Remember seeing a feature on BBC Breakfast news last week which demonstrated that the number of serious injuries / murders as a consequence of knife attacks has not increased

Am so frightened of what it will be like when ds' are teenagers.

handlemecarefully · 09/06/2006 23:58

Well since knife crime has not increased and this is all media flavour of the month stuff, probably not much different to now EmmaKB
