Man has been let go. We were abroad at the time and I only heard about this last night.

Euphemia that's good you've used the incident to teach your DD about safety when out and about. I'm just glad the incident was a near miss and that the girl was not abducted.

I'm not sure now whether that EL News article is right, as according to someone generally reliable I spoke to today he did appear in court. However, I haven't spoken to anyone who knows much about it. Tis all very worrying and a good reminder to teach kids about staying safe, as Euphemia says.

Both reports are a bit "skeletal," so it's hard to tell what the actual story is. My first thought was that the man could be known to the child (e.g. a relative or possibly a situation involving a residency or contact dispute,) which would explain why he has not been named despite being charged with the crime. It happened on 26th July, but I haven't seen any more recent reports.
