To ask how I can get my iPhone 5 screen repaired without paying £170

Bit tipsy walking home from a night out, took phone out to look at pics and dropped face down on pavement! Screen shattered. Obviously not insured. It seems that the only way I can get it repaired is to pay £170 at an Apple shop. Anyone manage to repair their iPhone 5screen for less?? Any advice gratefully receivedSmile

As others have said, the cheap mobile covers type places will replace it cheaply, but you will invalidate your warranty if you do that.

I repaired my iPhone3 myself following a video on YouTube. It was actually really easy. I watched the video about 5 times then sat and repaired the phone alongside it. DD is still using it without any problems.

Problem is that I repaired the 3 when the 4 was out, so buying the screen was less than £50. A 5 screen is still going to cost you around £100. So you may as well get it done by Apple.

Where do you live? SimplyFixIT in Scotland have a number of stores and do a lot of Apple-related repairs.

FixmyiPhone in London is another one.

I'd go for an actual indie store that does repairs over a market stall (ideally one with a good rep), and before going to Apple direct.

Yep, indie store, have a google. We got an ipad screen replaced same day for £70.

Thank you for the tips everyone, market stall not an option. Key point is its a 5.....Apple have not released replacement screens for the 5 on to the market yet. Hence as far as I know only way to fix is to go to Apple store and pay a premium. I will look into fixmyiphone, I live in london. Lesson learnt though next time will make sure have a good protective case...be warned...
