Efraim Rios Montt has been convicted of the Genocide of the Ixil People in Guatemala.
It's the first time ever an ex-head of state has been convicted of genocide in his/her own country.
What happened in Guatemala was very under-reported at the time, and over 200,000 died during the 36-year civil war. The bloodiest phase was during Rios Montt's presidency.
It's good to see justice finally being done, for all the people of Guatemala (it's a fabulous place!).
