I had heard of the child who is still recovering. When I heard news of this reported death I assumed it was the same one. It's not.

This is a monstrous world in which to be female.

No words. I hate this world sometimes. HmmHmmAngryAngry

That is horrendous. There's been a recent news story of a man who subjected an 11 yr old girl to a 3 hr rape ordeal & that was in the uk. Unfortunately horrors like that are happening around the world & have done for millennia.

I don't often say this, but I strongly belief that people who commit these sorts of crimes should be killed - how can you not know or care that what you are doing is wrong when you rape a child??? Btw I'm not trying to say that raping an adult is any better

I would love to see all aid to India going to the hospitals that treat the victims and to the victims untill the government actually do something about it

Mumfun · 01/05/2013 18:37

Good idea Wannabestepford - so awful

JennyMackerz · 01/05/2013 18:40

Good grief. The poor child.

I just read something in the paper about an afghanistani girl married off to a cousin at 18. She ran away and her own father shot her because she wouldn't go back to the cousin.

what is wrong with men people :-(

RenterNomad · 01/05/2013 19:03

Excellent idea, wannabe: pressure through shame!

Good God, how could a 5yo have survived that?!

Wannabestepfordwife · 01/05/2013 20:45

What scares me the most is the situation has only come to light since December so how long has it been going on and how many victims have there been?

Glad other people agree with my suggestion

amazingface · 01/05/2013 21:06

ForgetfulMog is right - these things happen around the world and have done for millennia. And children who grow up in poverty have always been targeted the most because nobody cares about them - they are seen as sub-human. This is India's shame right now because these crimes are starting to be reported more. But they're happening or have happened everywhere.

I just feel so angry that children and women can't be safe. I feel like there has been such a spike in awful cases recently - not just these cases in India but also women being murdered every day.

Never, ever, ever let anybody tell you that women anywhere in the world 'have equal rights'. What a convenient fucking lie.

Wannabestepfordwife - best suggestion I have heard. What about an Avaaz petition?
