FFS. BBC bollocks today: "People on disability benefits will be exempt from the cap."
Utter crap. Here's the government's own website stating clear as day:
What's included
The cap will apply to the total amount that the people in your household get from the following benefits:
...
Employment and Support Allowance (unless you get the support component)
...
Severe Disablement Allowance
There are SOME disability benefits that make a household exempt from the cap, eg DLA/PIP, ESA Support component.
But many disabled people do not get these.
So many disabled people WILL be subject to the cap. And with DLA/PIP being withdrawn from over 25% of people who currently get it, there will shortly be even more.
Oh, and just for good measure, if someone in a household does get DLA/etc, if they are a disabled adult living with eg their parents, the household will be deemed two separate households, and the parents will be capped.
I have had it up to here with this constant spin that the welfare restructuring is not affecting the disabled. We are hugely affected, AND THE GOVT AND PRESS KEEP LYING ABOUT IT.
