Beaaware · 25/02/2013 11:36

Can it get any worse, now Ikea's meatballs contain horsemeat.

Shocking, what level of toxic horse drugs could be in these meatballs?

Littleerin113 · 25/02/2013 11:39

Wow they are still yummy!!

girlylala0807 · 25/02/2013 11:40

Is it so wrong that I dont care about this.

Twistynickers · 25/02/2013 11:43

But very impressed that Beeaware has found a different topic to post about.

Animation · 25/02/2013 11:46

Poor ponies Sad

But maybe horsemeat is the key to why they are so good - and they ARE good!

AlisonMoyet · 25/02/2013 11:47

poor ponies?!!

hahahah!
never mind the baby cows Wink

GlaikitFizzog · 25/02/2013 11:47

It's the Czech food standard agency people that have detected this, so we have no idea if there is horse meat in The meatballs sold here. So until the fsa say they have detected it here I'll still be making my ikea pilgrimage for meatballs regularly!

If anything comes out of this scandal, I hope it changes attitudes to eating horse in this country. Might not be for everyone, but its not as horrific as the media are making out.

Catsdontcare · 25/02/2013 11:47

Well at least it reduces the chance of catching mad cows disease eh?

LoopDeLoops · 25/02/2013 11:48

Right, that's enough. 3 posts on this? Do you own Argos or something?

GlaikitFizzog · 25/02/2013 11:51

Do Argos do horse free meatballs??

forevergreek · 25/02/2013 11:53

Of course they do, that's why they are beyond cheap

PessaryPam · 25/02/2013 11:53

Bute is actually carcinogenic, that's the real problem of horse being in the human food chain.

Iggly · 25/02/2013 11:54

That will be why they're so nice.

Horse is yummy. So there. I eat it in France & Belgium & would happily buy it in the UK, when I am there, if I could.

And lambs are way cuter than horses anyway, and we eat lots of them.

badtasteflump · 25/02/2013 11:58

AIBU to feel really smug that I don't eat meat? I eat fish but am assuming I would notice if horse was smuggled into my fishfingers Grin

BreadForMyBREADGUN · 25/02/2013 12:01

It's in the Czech republic, not here

I want to go to Ikea for lunch now.

GlaikitFizzog · 25/02/2013 12:01

You do know that the found fish fingers to contains actual fingers though badtasteflump? Nothing is safe unless you rear, grow, slaughter and harvest it all yourself!

EstherRancid · 25/02/2013 12:01

me too flump Wink

BreadForMyBREADGUN · 25/02/2013 12:03

Or is it that they've been discovered by Czech inspectors

Confused Grin
BadRoly · 25/02/2013 12:04

I didn't think they'd found bute yet in any of the samples in the UK?

PessaryPam · 25/02/2013 12:09

Often when a horse is on it's way out the owners use bute to make it as comfortable as possible. These carcasses should never get into the food chain. As horses are supposed to have these passports it should never happen. Now we see that in fact the whole system is an omnishambles what faith would you have that this has not happened. I am firmly in zero camp here.

Delayingtactic · 25/02/2013 12:12

I am desperate for some IKEA meatballs now. Damn you OP!

Animation · 25/02/2013 12:16

Delayingtactic - How many would you like?

Animation · 25/02/2013 12:17

Is it 10, 15 or 20?
