RIP Richard Briers

to me, he will always be the voice of Rhubarb and Custard (showing my age). I realised I've got to the age where I know most famous people who die, rather than saying "who?".

He was only 79!

I remember him in The Good Life mostly-& also Monarch of the Glen.

It's so sad and I have actually shed a few tears (unusual for me!). I love The Good Life in particular and he always reminded me of my Dad. A really sad loss.

tailtwister he reminds me of my dad too. They seem to have the same mannerisms. I cant really explain it (my dad is still with us btw)

Loosely related to this, sitcoms back then seemed to have stronger female characters in them than in recent years.
I learnt valuable lessons in how to deal with difficult and/or sexist workmen from Sybil Fawlty and Margo Leadbetter.

I love him in 'Much Ado' as Leonato (taught the play to year 9s for years).

You're so used to cuddly old Richard Briers, if you grew up with the Good Life, which is pretty much the character for the first Act - & then comes the wedding scene, with him exploding so unfairly at his daughter & then the pathos of 'Hath no man's dagger here a point for me?'.

Every class, ever, was electrified by that scene & that performance.

Massively underrated actor.

raven - yes yes to your comments! I nearly fell off my chair when I saw cuddly Richard Briers in Much Ado. And did you see the lovely things Kenneth Branagh said about him?

He was such amazing actor.

I loved him in the good life and as the voices of rhubarb and custard.
I also member him in ever decreasing circles. Such a comforting man to watch and listen to.
Thoughts with his family.
