They're only six and one but it still makes me happy to know that they will have the chance to marry anyone they choose, male or female.

Finally, sense prevails.

BacardiNCoke · 05/02/2013 19:51

Fantastic news!

Snusmumriken · 05/02/2013 19:52

Great news!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 05/02/2013 19:53

Wonderful.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/02/2013 19:53

Excellent news - and one in the eye for the homophobic morons claiming they are not homophobic.

VinegarDrinker · 05/02/2013 19:53

Hugely relieved, and by a good number too. The number of dinosaurs the Beeb have been digging out of attics to spout their bigoted nonsense, I was actually starting to worry.

lubeybooby · 05/02/2013 19:53

Amazing. About time too!

LineRunner · 05/02/2013 19:54

I am actually proud of those 400 MPs.

Where was Cameron ffs?

noddyholder · 05/02/2013 19:54
Smile
CabbageLooking · 05/02/2013 19:54

That's a lovely thought. And they'll never have known any different. It will be completely ordinary to them. :)

Unacceptable · 05/02/2013 19:55

It's about time! Another step in the right direction for society

CMOTDibbler · 05/02/2013 19:56

Tis brilliant, but about time too!

VinegarDrinker · 05/02/2013 19:56

" And they'll never have known any different. It will be completely ordinary to them."

That really does make me happy.

hermioneweasley · 05/02/2013 19:57

Lovely.

Velve · 05/02/2013 19:57

I'm basking in the warm fuzzy feeling this gives me!

LeonardoAcropolis · 05/02/2013 19:58

Wonderful news,

LineRunner · 05/02/2013 19:59

Bless him, John Bercow actually looked all excited when he was saying 'The ayes have it!'

Wolfiefan · 05/02/2013 19:59

I'm so glad. Another step in the right direction. How can love and marriage be a good thing but only if you are straight? (Sorry but that seems totally bloody bonkers to me emoticon).

I have no idea what the sexuality of my two will end up being. I just want them to be happy, loved and loving.

noddyholder · 05/02/2013 19:59

I think this takes away a lot of the patriarchal crap that marriage has always implied and the being given away etc and I think a lot more straight couples will get married now too as this has changed the implication. I know it has for me

JakeBullet · 05/02/2013 19:59

I really thought this wouldn't get through after hearing sone of the dinosaurs today. So relieved.

LalyRawr · 05/02/2013 20:01

Complete joke that it took this long.

But for once, just once, I am so proud of the 400 who voted yes.

Especially loved the "I queue with you in the commons, I queue with you in the chambers. Wy then, when it comes to marriage, do you insist I queue in a seperate line?"

Good man.

NotALondoner · 05/02/2013 20:03

so if people have had a civil partnership, can they marry as well?

MammaBrussels · 05/02/2013 20:03

Hurrah!

MechanicalTheatre · 05/02/2013 20:04

Well let's not get too excited, it still has to go through the Lords.

VinegarDrinker · 05/02/2013 20:05

Good point Mechanical Including all those Bishops....
