Just read it and can't say anything...Sad

I read this too, also it was on the lunchtime news a couple of days ago, they played one womens call to the emergency services after one plane had hit the tower, was so awful coz she kept saying i'm going to die arent' I, then one man was testifying about how his son called him from one of those planes (he was with his wife and 2yr old daugther i think) he said if it happens it will be quick and his father watched as the plane hit the tower Sad

My heart goes out to them Sad

i really hope they don't sentence that man on trial right now to death. why make him the 'martyr' he wanted to be? no way. life in prison w/no parole.

Caligula · 13/04/2006 22:35

Absolutely Expat. Serving time in an American jail with American prisoners will be a much bigger punishment, than fulfilling his dream of becoming a martyr.

TwoIfBySea · 13/04/2006 22:55

This must be so awful for a family to hear but did anyone else find this galling?

"And Iranian-born Samantha Carrington, 54, won a £16million payout after claiming jet staff harassed her on a 2003 flight in Texas amid fears following 9/11."

£16million, for being harassed? And how much compensation did the families get? What a screwed up world we live in!

TwoIfBySea · 13/04/2006 22:56

Also, they should find out what that man on trial wants...

and then do the exact opposite.

Isn't martyrdom what these fanatics wanted? As mentioned it would be much better if he faced life in an American prison. Life meaning for the remainder of his life.

Caligula · 13/04/2006 23:01

That little story about Samantha Carrington was put there deliberately to outrage the reader by juxtaposing the seeming triviality of being harassed (not trivial at all when it's happening to you - terrifying I imagine) against the horror of what the crew and passengers of the plane experienced. A very clever, if unsubtle, piece of media manipulation there.
