Parents whose six children died in house fi're have had murder charges dropped

They have had their murder charge dropped and have instead been charged with manslaughter.

Am not surprised tbh . If they ARE responsible for the fire then it is unlikely that they intended for anyone to die.Sad

I agree .... I always thought they started the fire, with the intention of getting everyone out. However .......they need to serve time for the crime.

I don't really know any of the facts about this case except the fact that 6 innocent lives were lost in such a horrific way.

My thinking is though that there must be some doubt if the charges have been reduced which means that there is every chance those parents were denied an opportunity to say goodbye to their precious children for no reason :(

Sometimes people are incredibly thick and do stupid things. Sadly these kids have paid the price.

I guess we shouldn't discuss much if there's going to be a trial.

wannaBe · 17/12/2012 22:34

the opinion that people are thick and children died isn't something that is going to prejudice a trial.

expatinscotland · 17/12/2012 22:37

Who knows? The whole case is very, very strange.

VivaLeBeaver · 17/12/2012 22:42

I don't think it's been proved yet that they started the fire.

peanutMD · 17/12/2012 22:55

Wow the trial has already been done and the evidence shown to prove them guilty then?

I and a lot of others appear to have missed that fact Hmm

ripsishere · 17/12/2012 23:07

IMO, whatever the parents were charged with, nothing can compare to the way they must be feeling.
Murder V manslaughter, same same, nothing will bring their children back.

Snazzyfeelingfestive · 17/12/2012 23:10

VivaLeBeaver yep, my money would be on your explanation. But ripishere I would also bet that they do feel as you imagine they do.

BabylonElf · 17/12/2012 23:12

I drove past the house today, makes me feel so sad :(

hiviolet · 17/12/2012 23:22

Such a strange case. What on earth was their plan?

JakeBullet · 18/12/2012 07:15

Yes Peanut, which is why I used the words "If they ARE responsible" .
Am well aware there has been no trial as yet. Just saying that IF they ARE responsible then I doubt it was intended for anyone to die Sad

it wasn't aimed at you Jake.

More the posters who seem to know the inside story.

JakeBullet · 18/12/2012 08:27

Thanks Peanut, I hoped that was right. Hope I have not opened a can of worms by starting this thread. Might ask MNHQ to remove it to be in the safe side....or at least keep an eye on it.

Nancy66 · 18/12/2012 09:41

the murder charge always seemed odd. Murder means there was clear intent to end life...rather than it happening as an unfortunate consequence of actions.

Manslaughter makes more sense.
