speechless. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20645838

I hope the hoax callers and the media witch-hunters are pleased with themselves.

Shock. How appalling. :(

MackerelOfFact · 07/12/2012 15:40

I didn't realise but there's already a thread on this in chat. Apologies, I did a quick search of Active Convos for 'nurse' and there wasn't anything.

I hate hate HATE these stupid radio prank calls. They're not funny at all and just cringeworthy. I always make a point of turning over channels when they come on.

I truly hope this is the end of these stupid calls and I hope the poor lady rests in peace.

I also think the DJ's should consider their positions and do the right thing by resigning. Shame on them.

JustFabulous · 07/12/2012 17:54

This is so so sad. And days before Christmas too, her poor family.

Those DJ's really need to learn from this and never ever do anything like that again.

It is just beyond comprehension.

Hi there
here's another thread about this

JustFabulous · 07/12/2012 18:00

Reading this just makes me feel so sad. It is just awful.

inadreamworld · 08/12/2012 08:53

Just to repeat the comment I put in the chat thread on this topic:

Awful for the poor woman and her family and every suicide is tragic. But although I think those DJ's played a joke in v bad taste I still can't understand why this nurse would commit suicide over it. The Daily Mail readers (in the comments) all seem to be blaming the radio DJ's but most people IMO would not commit suicide if they were in that nurses position. I would just laugh it off - yes am sorry Princess Kate is sick but loads of people have much worse illnesses. The royals are not that important.

FergusSingsTheBlues · 08/12/2012 08:56

Im suprised the hospital was caught off guard at all, to be honest. They must routinely give staff media training, surely?

flatpackhamster · 08/12/2012 12:21

I don't think it's media training that's the problem here.

The protection unit should brief all staff that THIS is the process by which contact should be made with Royal Person X. So if the Duchess of Cambridge is in hospital, then the protection unit should brief the nurses that anyone getting in touch with the hospital has to be a hoaxer because the Palace wouldn't get in touch that way.
