More like he's a very stupid man. He's pretty much admitted he's 'gone beyond just a kiss' with a school girl. And yet he doubts the integrity of those who have come forward about historical abuse? He might as well have signed a statement saying he's guilty, just find my victims. Saying it happened 35/40 years ago doesn't change the fact he knew what he did was wrong as he drove off trying to make sure she couldn't see his number plate. Odd behaviour if you had done nothing wrong. All the feigned innocence is bollocks - he knew well enough back then it was wrong, and the passage of time doesn't make it less wrong.

AnyaKnowIt · 24/12/2012 12:19

I've been thinking about this, this morning, about the whole they looked older then they were bullshit.

I worked in retail for over 10 years, for that I needed an alcohol license. If I or any of my staff sold alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 then I would be responsible. I would have lost my license, and without my license my job plus a maximum fine of £5,000.

Anyway my point being is that if I used the defence of 'they looked older' would NOT have worked as I had not used Due Diligence. That I had not taken the reasonable step to find out that persons age.

Why isn't it the same for sexual offences?

OP posts:
DollyTwat · 24/12/2012 12:24

Did Paul Daniels actually admit to chucking a child he'd tried it on with out of the car, at night, because she'd said she was at school?
He actually turned his headlights off as he drove off?

Words fail me

Bastard

AnyaKnowIt · 24/12/2012 12:29

Yep, just left the child at the side of the road without a backwards glance!

Chances are he was still married to his 1st wife at the time. Can't find anything about when he was divorced, but it seems likely to me. He is an odious little git isn't he?

AnyaKnowIt · 24/12/2012 12:48

Hmm, his wiki page was change on 20th November

Daniels married his first wife, Jacqueline Skipworth (born 1942), in 1960, when she was 17 and he was 21.

I hope she sees that article and makes a complaint
He clearly remembers it

swallowedAfly · 24/12/2012 12:50

it's different because it's about girls imo - and they really do believe that is what girls are and are for - things for fucking.

wrong to not check a purchaser is 18 even if they look 18 if buying a bottle of wine but somehow expecting a grown man to ensure the child he has picked up in the rain is out of school before sticking his tongue down her throat is utterly unreasonable.

AnyaKnowIt · 24/12/2012 12:57

It's page 17 hairy arsed constructions workers sussed it

In 1992, Peterborough CMPE pledges to raise funds for the Jimmy Saville Children?s Hospital Fund but switches to Hospital at Home for Children after doubts over the direction of the dona- tions.

It's the welsh connection with vince saville the and boothby that I am trying to suss out.

Lockedout434 · 24/12/2012 23:38

My first flat was in a quite posh riverside block in Peterborough (my then girlfriend managed to rent it dirt cheap off her boss, who had just got married and moved in with her husband). At the time Savile was spending a lot of time in Peterborough, he was raising money for a childrens' hospital that was going to be made to look like a castle and would carry his name. It never got built in the end, I'm not 100% sure why though. But when he was in Peterborough he stayed in a flat in the same block as me (there were much, much bigger flats upstairs and I believe his was one of those).

I never saw him there and I didn't hear any rumours about him at the time so this isn't as interesting as maybe it could be but it creeps the fuck out of me thinking about what he might have been doing in his flat while I was at home in my flat in the same block

m.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/local/tributes-how-sir-jimmy-savile-fixed-it-for-good-causes-in-peterborough-1-3201036
Jimmy used to work as a consultant for travel agent Thomas Cook and helped city charities raise thousands of pounds.

Nigel Hards, now the chairman of Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, worked with Jimmy in the early 1990s at Thomas Cook.

He said: ?I worked with him quite closely for about four years.
?He was a very complex character. The person on the TV screen and on the radio was a very different person to the private Jimmy Savile.

?He did lots of things for lots of people that he would not talk about, as well as his publicised charity work.

?He was a great ambassador for Peterborough. He helped launch the Charity Six road race, and lots of top runners, including Steve Ovett and Steve Cram came along, just because he was involved.

?He was heavily involved in helping set up a children?s medical health charity in the city, by raising a quarter of a million pounds.

?He was also instrumental in bringing Princess Diana to the city as part of Thomas Cook?s 150th anniversary.

?He was also a very intelligent man and was a member of MENSA.

?I once asked him what he did at Stoke Mandeville Hospital as a volunteer.

?He said he liked working the night shift at the mortuary, because he thought it would be easier for loved ones if he was there when they came in.

?He also said it was the only place in the hospital where he could smoke his cigars, as the inmates didn?t complain.

?There will never be anyone like him again and he will be missed. It is a sad day.?

Reg Briggs (79), of Chaucer Road, Peterborough, worked in the security control room for Thomas Cook when he met Jimmy.

He said: ?I met him a couple of times when he worked here.

?He was always happy to have his photo taken, and he would always have a chat.

?I remember he came in and asked where a cleaning lady was, as he had heard she wanted a picture with him. He was a nice man, a real character.

?I still have a couple of pictures of me with him, one at work and one at home.

?They always get a bit of attention.

?Hearing of his death brought back some of the memories. It is sad to hear the news.?

Whatever happened to all the money raised for the "childrens hospital" that was supposed to be next to the Edith Cavelle (sic)?
Nigel Hards was on the radio yesterday morning and mentioned it. That money went to Hospital at Home.

I can't remember why that was but it had something to do with him fronting a charity for them (but I might be wrong!).

He was regarded by the female staff as a complete "sleaze" and would think nothing of groping them or kissing them on the mouth.

All of this would happen in front of management and other members of staff - who would laugh along with it, rather than take issue. Jimmy would work this all into his routine and everyone appeared powerless to stop it. There was certainly nobody that dared to raise an objection. Jimmy was too big and powerful in their minds to risk upsetting, so they just allowed it to happen.

To all of those people, on this forum, who think the abuse never happened - and their argument is, that if it had, the people involved would have reported it or taken it further - you are very mistaken. There are many reasons why most people would not go up against a powerful individual and the system that keeps that person in place. This is even more true for vulnerable members of society - like young women in a children's home, who already think that the system is against them.

Ultimately, many claimants may be making up stories, for their own purposes and I do not believe that everyone is telling the truth. However, it is extremely likely that there is at least one small piece of truth in all these allegations.

There is another thing that must be remembered when looking at these situations. That is - those people that witness these things (like the management at Thomas Cooks, TV executives etc.) will have tried to convince themselves that what they saw "wasn't as bad as it looked". This is to justify the fact that they themselves took the easy option of not objecting to it or reporting it. It is a normal human survival reaction that can result in guilt many years later - hence the Esther Rantzen reaction. It takes a massive self-confidence to be able to stand against the crowd.

Maybe those angered at the "unprovable" attack against a dead man should view his demise in another way - he has gotten away with it! After all, nobody's bothered what's said about them when they're dead!

Lockedout434 · 25/12/2012 08:55

Thomas cook paid him about £10,000 per appearance according to one website.

Why thank you . Tis the power of google.

A minor disaster diverted when I realised I had started warming the oven with the beef and goose still in their plastic linings.
I had put them out of reach of the cats over night.

Could have been another thing to blame that fit for.

Lockedout434 · 25/12/2012 22:37

Anya

I keep forgetting that you cant hear the tone of my voice.
I know you didn't mean right now I was being ironic ( probably slightly sarcastic sorry) Xmas Grin
I am intrigued with the way savile will pan out.
Will the politicians be outed. Will those poor people get their closure. Will it stop just in a little way something happening to the same extent again.
I am also petrified as well as with the Internet my girls will be meeting boys who think weird porno sex as normal.
Where taking pictures via their phones will be natural and normal whatever vunerable situation they are in.
The huge risk that they could be exploited .

I think that's why I am a tad obsessed at the moment
Happy Xmas to everyone.
I will be out of Internet range for a few days soon I don't know how I will cope. .

Lockedout434 · 25/12/2012 22:44

So whilst I am still in range I will make the most of it
