Looking for mentions of Operation Yewtree unearthed a comment about a Lib Dem MP in his local newspaper. The comment's been left to stand for 3 days, surprisingly, on a moderated site. It's the 8th comment left (going from oldest to newest) at the bottom of the article on this page.

Nick Clegg's response to the matter is said to be raising more questions than it answers, according to Michael Crick the Channel 4 political blogger.

I don't know if there is an injinction this time or not. Tom Savage, the editor of The Daily Star has tweeted his name in connection with the arrest today though, so maybe not.

Mark Williams-Thomas also named him. He said there was no superinjunction, but the Leveson effect was preventing his name from appearing in the media.

oh bless you.

you know what it is though it's the 'i don't want to know so i'll pretend it must be made up' mentality. the one the establishment relies upon really.

had a really interesting conversation with my taxi driver tonight about the situation in nigeria and what people are really fighting about and he was saying i want to go and video what they have done to these areas where they've taken the oil, not invested any of it into the area and destroyed the farming land and left people with nothing and then people can see and they'll get it etc. i pointed out it's all already out there but people don't want to know really. facing how unfair things are would mean really taking on the injustice in the world and how greedy and corrupt all of our governments are and just how rich the few are at the rest of the worlds expense. people don't want to know.

people would actually rather stick their fingers in their ears and sing la la la when the truth is being spoken than actually face it. we think it is ignorance of information but really it is willful.

sorry for random rant but ??? sadly this is our world.

people would rather be comfortable than informed.

Amazing, someone posted in aibu about elm lodge. I posted the info held in the socialist worker which is a round up of what happened and the thread had been deleted. 1 person said it was salacious and some other said thanks for the info
It has really peed me off as it so wasn't salacious, it was information as someone asked about elm lodge.

It is the same old same old you can't talk about it. It must be whispered about, nothing can be spoken about cos it's a dirty dirty secret.

I can't believe mumsnet has done this. I can't believe I am crying over this at work.

so currently a sex offender of 'no fixed abode' only has to say where they are yearly??? surely the whole point of the register is to know where they are and be able to monitor who they are in contact with?

Paedophiles and rapists will be eligible to have their names removed from the sex offenders' register after 15 years under plans announced yesterday by the Home Office.
The move follows a ruling by the Supreme Court that their indefinite inclusion, without the chance of a review, amounted to a breach of human rights. David Cameron has described the judgment as "completely offensive" and Theresa May, the Home Secretary, protested that it put the "rights of sex offenders above the rights of the public".
But James Brokenshire, a Home Office minister, confirmed that the Government had decided to respect the ruling, but stressed it would do "the minimum necessary" to comply.
Yvette Cooper, Shadow Home Secretary, attacked the move and called for MPs to hold an urgent debate on the issue. She said: "We believe sex offenders should stay on the register for the protection of the public. Victims of sex offenders have suffered serious harm and many continue to do so."
There are currently about 45,000 sex attackers on the register, around half of them for life. The Home Office estimates that about 1,000 offenders could challenge their inclusion each year by asking a senior police officer to reconsider their registration.
Mr Brokenshire said the onus would be on an offender to prove he no longer posed a risk to the public and one would have to pay an initial fee of £200 if he wanted to appeal against a decision to leave his name on the register.
Mr Brokenshire said: "We will make sure we have a process that is robust, workable and puts public protection first, while at the same time preventing sex offenders being able to waste taxpayers' money by repeatedly challenging our laws. Most importantly, sex offenders who continue to pose a risk will remain on the register and will do so for life if necessary."
Meanwhile, the department announced fresh restrictions on registered sex offenders. If they say they are of "no fixed abode", they will have to tell police weekly, rather than yearly, where they can be tracked down.
