The more I try to think about it, the more I cannot fathom why DC suggested a confusion between paedophilia and homosexuality on national TV. In all the threads, stories and reports I've seen since the JS scandal hit, I've never seen ANYONE make that mistake - not even the red-top rags.

Could it be possible that the inquiry will be "given" the conclusion that people have just got themselves all in a tizz about gay MPs picking up rent boys, which isn't nice but faaaaaaar better than MPs abusing children. Is that the spin they're going to try to put on it? "Don't be silly, they weren't involved in a paedophile ring, it was one or two "rogue" MPs/Lords picking up male prostitutes... move along now, nothing to see here...". Confused

AnyaKnowIt · 08/11/2012 18:37

I fear so panda

TunipTheHollowVegemalLantern · 08/11/2012 18:44

It is totally a distraction technique and I thought it wouldn't work but now I think it will for a lot of people.

It's exactly as SaF said - in the past discussion of child abuse has been shut down by accusations of racism and now he's trying to use accusations of homophobia to do the same thing.

I think you're probably right, Panda.

NapDamnYou · 08/11/2012 18:45

A friend who works in Portcullis House said he'd overheard two Tory MPs saying 'nasty little rent boys after Savile's millions' and 'worse things happen at larding school, for God's sake, the country is in the grip of hysteria'

So yeah. I can believe thats the thinking in some parts of Westminster. And the counter rumor I mentioned, about it's all a far right internet conspiracy plot to point finger at black gay and Jewish politicians...

Sigh.

LineRunner · 08/11/2012 18:50

'Rent boys'. What a vile term.

Jason Swift was referred to as a 'rent boy' because he was a runaway. He was murdered by paedophiles when he was a child of 14.

NapDamnYou · 08/11/2012 19:00

Boarding school, should read, not larding school, sorry. Stupid phone. Blush

troubador · 08/11/2012 19:00

Ch4 news on now

LineRunner · 08/11/2012 19:06

Am watching. I hope C4 took a copy of that woman's files.

troubador · 08/11/2012 19:08

This woman is very brave. I am glad she's been given a chance to speak nationally.

MadameDefarge · 08/11/2012 19:10

I am very surprised boris has been so quiet. usually loves a good ruckus. still perhaps he really is in the dark about rumours surrounding political aides abusing children.

LineRunner · 08/11/2012 19:18

Cameron calling it a 'witchhunt'? Tosser.

Feenie · 08/11/2012 19:21

I have - on this very thread.

CFSKate · 08/11/2012 19:32

Ch4 news is talking about all sorts, Savile, Wales, Hillsborough, coverups and inquiries in general. Will be repeated at 8pm on Ch4+1

CFSKate · 08/11/2012 19:36

Ch4 news twitter tag is #pastontrial

Mrcrumpswife · 08/11/2012 19:42

I hope that woman has at least 10 copies of all of the paperwork.

How can people disregard what these people are saying when those that were sat through the investigations openly admit that there were people not questioned because of high profile positions.

It all stinks.

amummienetter · 08/11/2012 20:32

I am so glad I stumbled on this thread as I thought I was going mad. Looking at the Daily Mail comments on the Scholfield/Cameron saga I expected to see zillions of posts supporting Scholfield's actions but instead most seem to agree with Cameron which I find a bit odd considering DM readers normally have a hang 'em and castrate mentality on this subject.
I never thought in my lifetime I would be following Phillip S on twitter but I am seriously impressed with what he did today.

AnyaKnowIt · 08/11/2012 20:32

Just catching up on line now

amummienetter · 08/11/2012 20:39

Schofield Blush

chipstick10 · 08/11/2012 20:39

I dont think the PM is a tosser for calling it a witch hunt. Pip Schof was an arrogant ltosser handing him a list of names from twitter. Wft? Any random nutter can go online and say so and so is a paedo.

amummienetter · 08/11/2012 20:40

Apparently he's just been reported to Ofcom Hmm

LineRunner · 08/11/2012 21:12

Cameron is a tosser in my view for acting less like a Prime Minister and more like a soundbite. Is that it - is that the best that he can do?

AnyaKnowIt · 08/11/2012 21:17

I did see Phillip Schofield on this morning and I've took it to be 'I only spent 3 minutes on the internet and come up with these names, why isn't nothing being done' kind of thing

Darkesteyes · 08/11/2012 21:21

Anya i got that impression too. Im impressed with the way ch 4 news is covering all this. i think they deserve next years journalism award for their coverage.

AnyaKnowIt · 08/11/2012 21:25

But now the abuse is being deflected by Schofield shouldn't have done that and Camerons gay comment
