dentists low on local anaesthetic

i saw a report last night on bbc east midlands today in which they said that (local) dentists have very low stock of aneasthetic and will probably run out in about two weeks. i've tried to find more online, but not found a single report about it. the presenter actually said they'd have to do treatment without aneasthetic.

why don't they order some more?

LOL! What next? Going back to the days when they yanked out teeth by bracing themselves against you.
