Not exactly ILEA though is it: no direct involvement with schools, rather cross-borough strategic planning for school places, including new free schools and raising standards (well, it would say that last bit, wouldn't it?)
Actually, given the nature of cheek by jowl boroughs and their boundaries and the shortage of school places in London, doing that bit on a pan-London basis sounds extremely sensible.
