I am horrified by this. Definitely the thin end of the wedge.

Not to mention - shares given to you by your employer are treated as employment income. This means you will pay PAYE and NI on the value of the shares when you first receive them. Not sure where that money comes from as you'd immediately have to sell some of the shares to pay the tax bill... Or go without normal cash salary for that month.

On another Gidiot thread a poster remarked that the bollock-chinned wonder was out of his depth. He'd be out of his depth in a paddling pool. An empty one.

I had shares in Emap when I worked for them. Used to get a dividend cheque for tuppence ha'penny every year. Never stopped them being extremely ruthless with everyone except the corporate big boy idiots who all-but-bankrupted the company when they spent billions of pounds buying Guns & Ammo.

Would this possibly be illegal under EU law? It'd be nice if for once EU law was actually of some use, although given what we hear about non-existent employee protection in Spain and Italy I'm not convinced...

Absolutely terrible idea. I'd like to say it's poorly thought out but I suspect he knows what he's doing.
On the other hand, if we could sack him for just £2000, that'd be a good deal. Anyone want to start a kitty?
