I heard that Princess Anne's dog has killed one of the Queen's corgis. Can you imagine the atmosphere this Christmas at the palace?Will Lizzie be saying "ORF WITH ITS HEAD!"?

I think her dog attacked a couple of ramblers, then a so-called expert said it would never attack people again. They just forgot to mention the bit about attacking dogs....

She bloody well ought to! (say 'orf with its head'. The wretched thing attacked two kids in Windsor Great Park last year and all Princess Anne got was a measly £500 fine. It ought to have been put down (and I say that as a dog lover)

oh, they have a bd reputation don't they? My sis was talking about getting one and my mam said the kids were not allowed to go to her house if she did (didn't ask me, just made the statement!!) Sounds like a vicious little mite!!

Nice to see that the dogs 'future is now under review'. Obviously attacking two children was OK but killing another dog is a serious matter. I don't understand some dog owners who have these dangerous dogs (and I'm a dog lover)

I believe it's an English bull terrier and they are supposed to be perfectly nice dogs - it's the kind trailed around London by Cassandra in I Capture the Castle (white with quite a pointy nose) - can only think in this instance it thought it was protecting its owner (the corgi hurtled towards Anne to greet her apparently?) Agree though that this one should have been put down after the child attack.

It's the Staffordshires, which look like bruisers anyway, that have the bad rep (apart from pit bulls of course) but even they aren't vicious if properly trained.

I feel so sorry for the Queen - just imagine any old lady who's very fond of her dogs having one killed like that at Christmas.

Honestly... I love dogs and irresponsible owners who own dogs they can't control really make me angry but, isn't it so sad to realise that the people is so worried because the Queen's dog has died when she didn't show any emotion during several days when her DIL died... World is upside down, I'm sure some mothers have lost children today and they don't hit the news... Sorry if I have distracted from the point of this thread...

I love dogs but when it comes down to choosing between the safety of a dog and the safety of a child, the child would win every time.
