It's like something from a Greek play! I am really shocked by it tbh.

It's a terrible story

The woman was raped repeatedly by a man who threatened to tell her parents about it and who also took pictures (or said he did) whilst she was naked and pregnant...she feared her honour would be destroyed and so shot, stabbed and then beheaded him.

She carried the head into the village square where she approached men sitting outside a cafe and warned them that this man had spoken behind her back and tried to destroy her honour and that this was what happened to men who did that.

Then she left the head on the ground.

She's also pregnant by her rapist and wants a termination but the authorities say she is 2 weeks too late....she says she would rather die.

One quote got to me...she said "My daughter starts school this year..if people had known about the rape, she would have suffered"

She must have thought about her future if that man revealed what had happened....and been too frightened by it. Unless of course she's actually unhinged...could you DO that and be sane do you think? I feel for her massively as in that country, your honour is everything...but will the village think of her as "fixed" now she's beheaded the man?

I completely understand the shooting part, but to then behead him when you know he is dead and thus not a threat....? And to then carry the head into the village square...?

I think she did it to prove it was her and to do the ultimate humiliation on him soup...a sort of final disrespect to him.

Yes you can do that and still be sane!!! It's flipping out because you've got to the point where you can't take anymore. Not hugely different to a woman who has been abused by her partner for years and stabs him with a kitchen knife while he is sleeping on the sofa.

I also hope she isn't punished, she has suffered enough.

I feel like that too trazzle...I can't imagine how she'll get away with it in Turkey though...in the UK she'd most likely have to go into a mental health unit wouldn't she?

I disagree. Shooting him is the same as that scenario but it's the beheading that takes it a step further IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not making any kind of judgement because I am not in a position to. Just my gut reaction.

I agree that she won't get any kind of secure mental unit type sentence in Turkey though :(
