This is terrible.I heard it on gmtv this morning.I think what makes it worse is the fact that its not an accident.Someone did this to the poor family Sad.what must the poor wife/mother be going through.

julienetmum · 10/03/2006 14:23

I had a very worrying time this morning as my friend, her dh and their 3 children live in that street and I couldn't find on the news what number house it happened too.

I managed to contact them and they are OK thankfully, thier son went to beavers with one of the children killed :(

Horrible, horrible, horrible. I was shaking even after I spoke to them and knew it wasn;t them.

fairyjay · 10/03/2006 14:35

I thought it was a gas leak?

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 10/03/2006 14:40

It's being treated as suspicious a man has been arrested.

Not far from me and absolutley dreadful. The poor mum Sad

Glad your friends are OK Julie. The pictures of the back of the house are horrific and I'm surprised that there weren't injuries in the adjoining house.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 10/03/2006 14:41

Really scary - I'm always worry when I'm at work that something will happen at night and I won't be there to do anything.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 10/03/2006 17:07

They are also now concerned for another youngster (an 18 year-old) who's not been seen since the explosion Sad

JanH · 10/03/2006 18:16

It wasn't the kids' dad who was arrested by any chance?

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 10/03/2006 19:19

Apparently not Jan - well according to the local news. Must admit though that was the first thing I thought.

tortoise · 10/03/2006 19:28

BBc news web site says police say its not the father that they arrested..

JanH · 10/03/2006 19:50

I just can't think of another reason for it - unless it was a horrible accident?

Hideous. Sad

biglips · 10/03/2006 19:51

wonder what was the cause of the blast?

desperateSCOUSEwife · 10/03/2006 19:51

how Sad

WestCountryLass · 10/03/2006 22:26

Apparantly it was the exboyfriend of the 16 year old. So bloody awful, that poor mother tears

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 10/03/2006 22:30

WCL - you mean the bloke whose been arrested is her ex b/f. Local news said he's in his 30's Shock

JanH · 10/03/2006 22:31

Bit of an update \link{http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/4795036.stm\here}

The daughter's ex? And she had only just recently moved in with them according to earlier reports. There are so many ways this is the most horrible thing to happen to a family - their poor mother (and father) Angry

ma2cra · 10/03/2006 22:35

This is not far from me too.

It was awful listening to a local resident on the local radio news describing how the children were seen at the window and no-one could get to them.

julienetmum · 12/03/2006 21:15

The press have been hounding everyone in the area! For goodness sake leave them alone.

They even called the emergency services when they couldn't get through on the admin number!!

At least they have the person who did this despicable thing. When certain facts come out about him there will be uproar. Don't really want to say what as I probably shouldn;t have been told and certain things have to be kept quiet so as not to prejudice the legal case but rest assured, he is not a nice man.

biglips · 13/03/2006 13:17

whats happening with this now?

jampots · 13/03/2006 13:30

i dont understand how someone would have been videotaping it BEFORE the explosion?

biglips · 13/03/2006 13:31

it was on someones CCTV for their driveway, wasnt it?

charliecat · 13/03/2006 13:33

cctv it says jampots

jampots · 13/03/2006 14:02

sorry Blush

sharklet · 13/03/2006 14:38

That poor mother, not only has she lost her family, but all of her memories of them too. No photos, no momentoes. She can't even go home and sleep in her own bed its too awful to loose everything, home family and all your possessions. Its my worst nightmare.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/03/2006 19:17

They still have the chap in custody - he is apparently, as WCL says, the ex boyfriend of the 16 year old.

Rumours abound in the town (my mum lives there) - agree with Julie that he's not a nice bloke.

The poor family Sad
