Tracey Connelly released in weeks

After only a 5 year jail sentence, she apologised for her actions while in jail. Why wasnt she given a longer sentence? Even her mother wishes she was given at least 10 years. I dont think i'll ever understand the law system. She claimed she didnt know who killed her son & didnt noticed any of his broken bones or even broken back. She doesnt want to be recognised when she comes out. What are the odds of her getting a new identity?

I'd say odds are quite high. Isn't Karen Matthews out now too? Don't think she was given a new identity though. It costs a lot.

Emmielu · 05/08/2012 09:29

Yeah she was out a few weeks ago. I dont think she was either cause she was pictured with new hair cut etc & out buying new clothes. Tracey has already dyed her hair blonde so she doesnt get noticed.

I am sure Tracey will not be able to hide for long, and when she is found I would not like to be her.

Emmielu · 05/08/2012 09:38

No i wouldnt either. Theres an awful lot of anger towards her & its really no surprise. Once one person finds out where she is it'll just spill out everywhere.

I don't see why her mother's wishes should come into this at all, she was an abusive and neglectful mother herself. If any good is to come of this sad situation, I would hope that more would be done to help stop people who had shit upbringings from repeating the same patterns.

Emmielu · 05/08/2012 09:59

Trouble is back then there wasnt a lot of power with social services & child protection so there was probably no concern like there is now with child protection. Its strange that with all the ways you can raise concerns over children you think might be being abused, cases like this slip through the net & still children end up being tortured more or dead. So much has changed over the years with the childrens act, child protection laws & the power that each profession has with children but theres still child death cases related to child abuse.

There always will be too. Sadly.

Emmielu · 05/08/2012 10:41

I've been reading Harry Keebles books about his work in child protection & i know most of the problem is lack of foster parents, childrens homes & money. Its a shame when you think of how many kids could be saved even for a week from suffering.

As long as there are people who think vigilantism is ok, people like her will need new identities.

That's not a comment on whether I think she should be released yet or not.

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 14:57

I suppose she will have to go to a new part of the country. I can't imagine living near to someone like her, I really can't.

EdithWeston · 05/08/2012 15:15

Here's an interesting article from 2009 about new identities.

It was expected then that she would apply for a new identity, but there has been no word at all (that I can find) about whether an application was made or if one has been successful.

Denise34 · 05/08/2012 17:07

She should never be released. Evil woman.

FrothyOM · 05/08/2012 18:32

She was jailed indefinitley with a minimum of five years. Where did you see she would be released?

Emmielu · 05/08/2012 19:02

She's done the 5 years. Saw it in the sun. She's due for release weeks away.

Im sure there are lots of mums wanting to know where she is when she is releasedGrin im sure we will pay for her new identity though and protect her for killing an innocent child Angry

Birdsgottafly · 08/08/2012 00:48

The baby P case happened, because people didn't do their job, properly, though.

Jason Owen was released last year the sun showed up to date pictures if him walking through a park.

The problem with vigilante behavour is that after Maxine Carr's release they attacked a few innocent women, thinking that they were her.

The search for Connelly will mean the same and could put her other children, who she has contact with, at risk.

Birdsgottafly · 08/08/2012 01:03

It was only recommended that she served a minimum of 5 years, so there is the ability to hold her for longer, it is whether they want to do that, as, we don't count child murders as the worse crime possible, by any means.

I don't think that the 5 years should start from the first day of arrest, in this case.
