Esther Rantzen has just been interviewed on Jeremy Vine and was talking about this. She says the biggest difference between now and then is that the children ringing in now have only suffered abuse (on average) for around a year, whereas 20 years ago children were suffering abuse as long as they could remember. So a big up for Esther.
