apparently it is quite common for marathon runners to poo and wee themselves. a firend did the London one last year and they had this as part of a lecture they had on running marathons.

Another good reason for not doing it then Grin

Call me dumb but how can it be easier on the sore feet to run 26 miles on Londons Roads as opposed to the 5 and 10000 metres on a soft rebound sprung presumable state of th art training track...

Liz McColgan lives down the road from me. she and her family are lovely - they have bought over and done up a local sports centre - good prices, not all snobby "oh its the Liz McColgan sports centre, pay through the nose for the name", great atmosphere, child friendly etc etc

her daughter is about 11 (i think) and she won the junior citizen of the year for being an all round good egg - lots of community activity etc (and not just cos shes a McColgan) really nice girl, very down to earth family

She might as well retire for all the actual "amateur" competitive racing she does. Don't think I have any expectations of her running for her country any more so past caring.

My DS2's Godmother has known Paula (and her parents) since Paula was a baby, and gets rather hacked off at all the p*ss taking (sorry excuse the pun Blush) about her. Apparently, yes her DH is a bit of an arse, but she and her parents are all lovely - but sadly she's one of those people the media has chosen to show the 'bad' side of.
