Is this a chemical terror attack - M6 toll booths

BCC article here. Clearly a major incident, and a big emergency services and military response.

Whatever the nature of the incident proves to be, the road is going to be shut for some time, so at the very least it's worth avoiding the area if you can.

How bizarre.....that's going to cause chaos on the M6 .

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 05/07/2012 12:15

I can't open the link, thanks for the warning.

EdithWeston · 05/07/2012 12:20

Here's SKY on the story so far, perhaps this one will open better.

Even if not a terrorist incident, it looks as if there will be a lengthy road closure whilst they decide what, if any, sort of decontamination is needed and then carry it out.

Jesus Christ. When is this going to end?

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 05/07/2012 12:23

Sky news on tv taking it more serious than BBC.

There were London terror arrests too.

EdithWeston · 05/07/2012 12:28

They don't appear to be linking the terror arrests and this incident.

It's the eye-witness accounts of the (apparently very strange) actions of one passenger which seem to be sparking the terrorism concerns, but it's all very unclear right now. There are decontamination units there now, and the Army (RLC, I think bomb disposal team).

Yep, it's difficult not to speculate when you see the scale of the response.
But they caught it, and hopefully no one has been hurt.

EdithWeston · 05/07/2012 12:29

It's at Weeford, Lichfield. An area to avoid, if you can.

Blimey, this is 10 mins away from where I live.

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 05/07/2012 12:31

Bomb people gone. It sounds chemical concerns to me.

SKY's latest is that police are now saying it is not a terror event.

Perhaps they'll be a fuller account on the main lunchtime news.

But I expect there will be traffic problems in the area for quite a while.

BBC are just saying he same, wonder what when on? Wonder how much that all cost?

Poor buggers who had to sit on the road in the sun all that time, hope there were no kids on board.

EdithWeston · 05/07/2012 13:16

The road should be reopening in the next hour or so (reports vary depending on which channel you're watching).

So it should be back to normal by evening rush hour, and perhaps by the early evening news it'll be a bit clearer what happened.
