One of the comments from the bottom: "Ancient traditions, whatever their cultural origins, which involve permanent physical harm towards children have no place in the 21st century."

although I am not sure if it contravenes the child's right to religious self-determination. It is perfectly possible to be an atheist who once had a religious circumcision. There are plenty of baptised atheists out there too!

It is the physical harm that disturbs me.

tbh I don't care about the religious or any other reasons (apart from the very rare cases where it is medically neccessary). the child should decide himself at an age were he fell a sensible decision about his own body.
