claig-
'Can you back up this interpretation?'
I can't back it up because I am not a Bible scholar, but Jesus forgives everyone and said we should do so too.
Well yes, but that's besides the point. Jesus said he does forgive, if people repented, but that doesn't mean he doesn't say certain behaviour is wrong and other behaviour is right.
Being born into a rich family and inheriting wealth by an accident of birth does not mean that someone will not enter Heaven. Having money is not a crime. It is what you do with that money, how you use the talents that you were given, that determines if you have done good or not.
Because you say so?
'You cannot serve God and money'
That is saying do not worship money, do not became greedy, because that will lead you away from God. God is not found in money, and seeking God is the goal, not earning money.
I think that if you're a banker or CEO who earns million pound bonuses while millions starve, then you're probably going to hell. It'd be quiet a stretch to not interpret this as 'love of money'. Jesus consistently preached for people to give away and share their wealth with the poor.
Greed is one of the seven sins, but a sinner is also forgiven.
Yes dear, but we're not discussing whether sin can be forgiven. We we were discussing whether love of money is a sin, and whether the rich, according to the Bible, are going to hell.
Personally, I think it's pretty clear throughout the Bible that Jesus consistently preaches that people should not aim to be rich, and should share their wealth with the poor at every opportunity.
