I cannot believe someone, even someone in the Conservative Party, would say this. Angry Shock Angry

How can anyone support them?

I'm still wondering about David Kelly. I never supported the war, have never supported any war and I have never voted labour. Novak, what Blair did was unforgivable but it was Rumsfield that marched in with the American companies, oil, water, electricity and construction not Tony. We haven't gained anything from it, neither should we.

Americans have let the cat out the bag over Syria now. They are apparently looking at investment opportunities, no wonder Putin won't play ball.

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 23:05

Agree with Banana. Unforgivable. Protested against the invasion at the time.

Please don't think because I disagree with Tory principles that I am in agreement with New Labour Novack. I wish there was a party with a chance of power who reflected my views. North Korea is out if Ryanair dont fly there so if you can get back to me re facts why the Tories are the party who care most for the poor then maybe I will have my answer...

MiniTheMinx · 09/06/2012 23:11

NicholasTeakozy Shock What sort of society forces someone so ill, so vulnerable to basically go begging for the basics and be forced into unpaid labour. What is your opinion Novak?

BananaGio · 09/06/2012 23:13

Nicholas that is shocking but sadly not surprising

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 23:17

Did anyone watch that Ted clip?

I am watching it now.

If anyone is interested, David Harvey "crisis of capitalism" very interesting talk, makes economics easy for us terribly dim witted lefties.

The book is brilliant.

BananaGio · 09/06/2012 23:25

Yes I did Mamma and it's going on my fb page. Have you read the spirit level? Giving it 5 more mins then giving up for tonight.

NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 23:26

I gave my opinion earlier. Ad hominem.

As for the OP I ssaid at the time that he is of a generation that used that figure of speech quiet commonly in the past and so it is a non issue and it did not have the racist or vile meaning that some people take it to have purely becuase it includes the n word.

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 23:33

Good. Glad people are sharing it.

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 23:35

Haven't read Spirit Level but will look into it. Book buying is a very expensive business in Brussels. Everything is an expensive business in Brussels.

Worth getting Mamma, is by the same guy as was on the link you posted.
Right checking out for tonight highly disappointed to be non the wiser re the Tories success at caring for the poor but all the better for having spent a few hours with some like minded people Smile

NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 23:40

Especially that waste of a parliament and those on the gravy train that work there.

NicholasTeakozy · 09/06/2012 23:41

You keep giving opinion Novack, yet fail to back them up with facts. There can only be two reasons for that: either there are none or you are spoiling for a fight. Be honest, which is it. Can I dismiss you as an idiot or are you being disingenuous? We deserve an honest answer, having successfully proved you spectacularly wrong on numerous occasions.

NovackNGood · 09/06/2012 23:45

Nicholas you have not proved me wrong on any occasion. Not even once. you are the only throwing insults around all the time. It appears you are the one looking for a fight with insulting words.

This is a message board Nicholas which is why I'm stating my opinion as that is the nature of them.

MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 23:50

Novack I think if you knew about the 'gravy' you'd be so angry you would sleep! The Parliament visitors' centre (parliamentarium) is awesome though. Fairly dull subject matter presented in a brilliant, insightful and inclusive way. If you're ever in Brussels you should visit.

OP posts:
MammaBrussels · 09/06/2012 23:52

Everyone should visit I mean - I'm not trying to wind Novack up!

You just have to look at the economy over the years under Labour and the Tories to see who does best for Britain and when the poor are better off. We have making up now for the mistakes of Labour.

Those who would like a more left wing economy can certainly look at North Korea www.korea-dpr.com/ You can even listen to their national anthem on their website. Like most left wing states they pretend all in the garden is rosy when it's not.

BananaGio · 10/06/2012 07:21

Are you joking Xenia or are you for real? Do you truly believe the options are Britain today or North Korea with nothing in between? Do you really think that because people are repulsed by what the Coalition is doing in the name of deficit reduction and cutting our cloth to fit that they automatically would prefer totalitarian North Korea?

Xenia · 10/06/2012 07:30

Of course there are choices other than North Korea (although we all know that communism has failed and been proven to fail and capitalism rules).

Most people are not repulsed by the good work the Coalition is putting into this country. Instead they are grateful for them. Also remember Labour proposed 20% cuts, no 25%. The coffers are bare as Labour spent the money in good times. So all 3 main parties are trying to do the best they can with little money available.

Iain Duncan Smith makes a very clear distinction between the deserving poor whom we all wish to help (his new universal benefit will be good) and those who exploit the system. I am sure all 3 parties have much the same views on those matters.

Xenia

Can you explain this in more detail? Perhaps with some data to back up your point?

Unemployment and inflation are rising. Growth is falling. This is not good.

Now, look at my earlier posts where I proved, using data, the poor are getting poorer.

Try to answer some of the questions using some facts to back up your points.

So if there are other choices other than North Korea why aren't we talking about them? I am not an anti-capitalist, not a communist. I just believe that a society with a narrower gap between rich and poor is a better one. For everyone not just the privileged few. For reasons explained in the TED link posted yesterday. I also believe that the majority of people who look into who the cuts are affecting and who realise that those who are affected to the greatest level are the most vulnerable, are repulsed by how it is being handled. Those who just believe the rhetoric regarding the party being over and that we all need to pay for the heady good times we all enjoyed probably aren't. I think most people would agree it is wrong to milk the system and that everyone who can should work. But have you read any of the threads over the last few months and seen the desperation of parents at the prospect of losing their DLA for their vulnerable children? If the price of looking after these people that need it so much is that some people will be filmed diving into a pool in Ibiza while off work with an alleged bad back and be plastered over the Mail then so be it. Try and eliminate those fraudulent claimants but don't tell me they are the ones who have bought this country to it's knees and that the desperation of those with SN children for example is a price worth paying.
