Nice of Martin to take the Cheque.
And now that it is owned by a website paid for by the companies involved, will they allow the posters on the site to be honest about the products?

He did give £10 million to charity!

JubileeTatWearer · 02/06/2012 07:49

Good for him, I say! I've certainly saved money using the site in the past.

And the donation to charity is amazing!

MrsSnaplegs · 02/06/2012 07:50

I'm just waiting for his new site
"MoneySpendingExpert.com" Grin

Well done to him.

You do realise that revenue was generated through recommended products? So not much will change there.

He's giving £10m to charity, of which £1m goes to citizens advice. Shane that such a vital service is shafted by the government and needs people like him to support it.

Grin at mrsSnaplegs

Good for him,

does anyone know how they would arrive at these values? How can it be worth £87 million when "The website made a profit of about £13m in the year to 31 October 2011, from revenues of £15m ? with 59% of that income coming from an existing deal between MSE and its new owner." It'll be years before they start earning that money back won't they? Goodness knows what the world looks like 6-7 years from now [mind boggles]

OhNoMyFanjo · 02/06/2012 08:23

I'm happy for him. Can't believe tge people slagging him off for selling out he's obviously worked hard to protect tge ethos of tge site. And none of them would have turned down tgat sort of money.

Mnhq - how much would you take for mn?

Nancy66 · 02/06/2012 13:02

Good for him.

He's a really really nice, decent bloke.

and he's giving a MASSIVE donation to charity.

SardineQueen · 02/06/2012 13:16

I thought good for him as well, and was also impressed with that whopping charitabe donation.

I have used the site quite a lot and always found it really useful.

niceguy2 · 02/06/2012 14:33

Those who slag him off are nothing but jealous.com

I bet they'd have taken much less money, given little/none to charity and have little consideration to the future of the site.

I don't know how the site will change in the future but it's been a godsend for myself and millions of others to date. However it changes, I wish Martin all the best and hope the site successfully continues.
