I had been sort of expecting this from the last few things I'd read by her but such very sad news here

I always enjoyed reading her stuff. My thoughts are with her family.

Oh no I had been wondering how she was ,had not realised she was so near the end.
I always though she had some very sensible things to say about family life with teenagers. So sad for her children, will hug mine a bit tighter tonight.

Last thing I read from her was about the gene therapy she was getting. She wrote about the trial first when she was randomised to the non trial drug but said basically if the cancer got worse she would get the trial drug. So when she did get it, I knew it had Sad. I remember reading her piece from years and years ago about her daughter Dido when she fell over the bannisters. My heart was in my mouth all the way through it.

Oh, how sad. She wrote one of the very good parenting books that I thought was any good.

hackmum · 31/05/2012 10:29

Sorry, very few parenting books, that should be.

Northernlurker · 31/05/2012 19:11

There are some fantastic tributes yesterday and today in the Telegraph. You can see them on line too.

So sad. Such a brave and selfless lady for sharing her experiences with us all and breaking down the taboo of talking about cancer.
