Has there been sweet FA so far, I should say.

They get very exercised about racism and have had the "Kick Racism Out of Football" campaign going for years; if they're not interested in kicking sexism out, then I'd really like them to talk Mumsnetters through what the moral and ethical difference is, between de-humanising a group of human beings because of their skin colour, and de-humanising them because of their genitalia.

It would be a really interesting web-chat. Grin

Oh come on, Basil... It's not like women are human, is it... Grin

Serious note... MN, would really appreciate knowing of any response, please?

BasilEatsFoulEggs · 18/05/2012 11:25

Oh yes I keep making that mistake - expecting to be thought of as a human being.

Silly old me. Grin

Hello. To tell the truth, I don't know. But I'll try to find out...

BasilBabyEater · 29/05/2012 10:32

hey mn, any news?

BasilBabyEater · 29/05/2012 13:41

well?

StarsAndBoulevards · 29/05/2012 14:07

I'm guessing that's a no...

AbigailAdams · 29/05/2012 14:36

Hello MNHQ, another one who would like to know. Thanks

BasilBabyEater · 29/05/2012 16:30

are you going to chase it up? have EVAW heard anything?

Ryoko · 29/05/2012 16:59

One thing at a time, they haven't even managed to kick the racism out yet.

JuliaScurr · 29/05/2012 17:23

Anything?
Anything at all?
Just as well it's not something important

BasilBabyEater · 29/05/2012 20:46

Oh yes ryoko, we must remember that dealing with sexism is bottom of the list, after racism, homophobia, classism, elf 'n' safety, art installations & practically everything else. I keep forgetting that women's human rights issues belong at the back of the queue...tsk, silly me, thinking women matter as much as everybody else. Grin

StarsAndBoulevards · 30/05/2012 01:32

But Baaasil... I keep telling you.

Us wimmin aren't human...

Silly... Grin

BasilBabyEater · 30/05/2012 09:09

So Mn? Any news?

Hi

Sorry for the radio silence. The FPA, Professional Footballers Association (not FA), who kept Ched in their team of the year haven't replied as yet to the letter we sent.

We saw Change.org who helped coordinate the letter (with one of their petitioners and EVAW) last week, and they thought the FPA might be waiting to hear the results of an appeal to Ched's conviction. I think they and the original petitioner are keen to wait and see if this changes anything.

Good news however today though, in that Ched Evans has been dropped/ fired/ released from Sheffield Utd.

Will keep in touch with the others and let you know as and when we hear anything.

Best

MNHQ

StarsAndBoulevards · 30/05/2012 15:54

Thank you, Katie.

BasilBabyEater · 30/05/2012 17:36

Thanks for the feedback katie. I suspected that that might be the case. The PFA don't give a shit about how sexually abusive their members are, so long as that abuse is defined as legal.

JuliaScurr · 01/06/2012 17:27

Evans is currently a convicted rapist. PFA cool with that?

BasilBabyEater · 02/06/2012 09:16

Yep, it would seem that PFA is entirely cool with that. Their excuse presumably, is that he has an appeal coming up and given that the law has been designed to enable rapists to get away with it, they must be hoping it will come through for him the way it does for most rapists.

StarsAndBoulevards · 02/06/2012 10:28

Innocent until proven guilty, appeals again, found guilty again... and even then, he's probably wrongly convicted...

I think that's the PFA/J4C logic...

MammaBrussels · 08/06/2012 07:44

Why should they wait for the outcome of his appeal (poss. 8 months) to reply to a letter? Is it because they're hoping all this fuss over nothing will go away?

JuliaScurr · 08/06/2012 17:29

Oh, Mamma, so cynical
