my grandma had a baby at home (my dad) who was 11lb13oz - that is all the scales went up to so could have been heavier. She always said she ripped from front to back. She was so big with him the doctor had put on her notes she was having twins

WSM · 03/12/2003 09:48

Gosh ! It's a shame that she misses out on the 'tiny baby' stage. I wonder if her growth/weight gain will plateau as she gets older, or will she forever be over 1/3 'normal' size for a child of her age ?

My BIL was 10lbs and my stepdad was 11lbs 2oz.

ouch ouch ouch!

handlemecarefully · 03/12/2003 11:24

At least they didn't try and make her deliver vaginally!!!

Oh, that's ake your eyes water!

A colleague of mine weighed 13lbs - not surprisingly he was the heaviest baby born in Ireland that year!

I posted on the related thread - dp's friend has twin nephews. Twins. Both weighed over 13lb EACH.

kizzie · 05/12/2003 00:13

Oh my goodness - i had twins 5' 14 and 6' 11
and could hardly walk at end because of weight (was v skinny then so all at front) Sadly not now - skinny I mean.
She must have been barely able to move with 2 that size!

ouch, sitting there with my legs crossed, ouch ouch ouch

Paula71 · 07/12/2003 21:33

Kizzie, I was the same with my twin boys but they "only" weighed 5lb and 5lb 4oz. I spent the last month and a half mostly on the sofa as I could barely move and they arrived 4 weeks early after an emergency c-section when I developed eclampsia!

14lb.

Gulp!

My mate is in her 6th month. She is 5'1" and looks full term. The midwife has sent her for growth scans as the bub is so big, 3lb10oz approx. at the mo! I shall not show her this as she is already panicked! Her dd arrived 5 weeks early weighing a tremendous 8lb7oz! Makes me cross my legs just thinking about it!

14lbs? Ouch!!!

I wonder what the Mumsnet record is? My DS was 10lbs and 1/2 an ounce ....

PS ... he did plateau WSM ... he is now an sturdy but not overly massive 4 year old ... 75th percentile in weight and 50th percentile in height ....

popsycal · 07/12/2003 21:45

ghosty - see this thread

My mother was 12lb, and she was born at home, with no midwife or doctor to help out, just the woman from next door.
