Offices are positively child-hostile places. DS1 cut his head open very badly when he ran into the corner of a desk at DH's office when he was 4.

geekgrrl · 15/02/2006 13:41

Tragic, same age as DS and it is always something I fear with him. They have no fear do they

Imafairy · 15/02/2006 16:12

I can't get out of my head the fact that the mother probably was all excited this morning about bringing her DS into work (if it was her workplace) and then this happened.

I heard this on the radio, can't get it out of my mind, how do you get over something like this? how on earth will she feel going home, the poor family

PotPourri · 15/02/2006 17:03

Terrible. I am also reeling from it, the very thought of that proud mummy this morning. And what made it worse was that on the radio when I heard about it, there was this silly bint commenting on it, saying - well I don't know why he wasn't being watched, I guess the mum was distracted - how insensitive and hideous is that?

What a tragedy.

I echo all your sentiments. I actually work in that building and was on holiday yesterday. Came in today to the news and took all my strength not to spend the day in tears. There were reporters at the doors looking for quotes- how sick is that....

As someone said, how do you recover from that?

In fact, it makes me want to stay at home and never ever leave the house.....

I live not too far from Edinburgh so this has been on the local news today, haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Apparently his mother is a receptionist at the solicitors' office it happened in. Awful.

awful, I really feel for her.

ds (10 months) decided to open the door of his nursery today (which I didn't know he could do) and crawl onto the landing where he tried to climb up the stairs to the attic (having to open that door too!) I have a stairgate on the stairs to downstairs but not there.

I turned round from putting clothes away to see the open door and rushed out just in time to catch the slow motion fall as he turned round on step 2 having decided it was too much work and slid/feel down 2 steps.

You really do need eyes in the back of your head and they can get into ANYTHING!
I felt so horribly guilty - I cna't imagine what I'd do if it was a death.
