I find it unbelievable that there a even people who protest this opt-in thing, online porn is disturbing and sickening. Even the thought of my children going up in a world where no one sees it as something to be protected from makes me feel hopeless for humanity.

So many reasons to be against ISP's enforcing filters. Try searching the boards for threads about it, there are pages and pages of explanations.

I don't think it'll make a difference. Kids will get around them if they want to watch porn. The onus should be put on parents to be aware of what their kids are looking at online.

Here are three earlier MN threads (from when this proposal last did the rounds a year or two ago): Internet porn may be blocked at source, Recent decision by MNHQ, and Blocking Internet porn. All these threads contain well-informed technical comment from MN resident geeks on why such proposals will not work.

It's nothing to do with being pro or anti porn. It's about avoiding measures that will not provide any real protection.
