wannaBe1974 · 11/02/2006 13:29

lol never mind. the point was related to the toom that has recently been unearthed in Egipt. is it really right that we should go in there and dig up these mummies?

LadyTophamHatt · 11/02/2006 13:57

Wow....I find that fasinating!

fasinating, yes but would I dig it up/.
No!!!
Not on our nelly!

peacedove · 11/02/2006 13:59

I love archeology, history, and the like.

Curses don't bother me. I have protection against them.

And Egyptian archeological finds have always been fascinating for me.

"they were a weird lot them Egyptions"
sure they were, but it is amazing the details preserved for us. Of course their dry climate has to do with that.

waterfalls · 11/02/2006 14:02

I telling you, all those who personally dig up those tombs will die a horrible death

peacedove · 11/02/2006 14:03

Oh that is alright then. No harm in visiting the tombs, or the British Museum

alexsmum · 11/02/2006 14:05

i don't think we should be digging things up-not because of curses but because they are human remains.
i wouldn't like anyone digging up my relatives remains because they were interesting.it doesn't matter that it was a long time ago-it's defiling a grave.

Whizzz · 11/02/2006 14:07

I think it's natural to want to explore whats in there but sometimes I do think we shoudl leave things alone. Fine to go in & record things, take photos etc but put them back when you've finished! Mind you I suppose someone would then come long & steal the stuff !!

peacedove · 11/02/2006 14:13

Oh, I don't know!

Sure the peace of the fead should not be disturbed, but all of those who have been dug up are our relatives, if you believ humans had common ancestory.

The tombs, graveyards, and the bodies that have preserved in not jsut Egypt, but also other places, have told us a lot. For me that is a necessary tool.

expatinscotland · 11/02/2006 14:25

If those places are cursed, well, they'll get theirs for digging them up.

monkeytrousers · 11/02/2006 19:54

I wish they'd do this one instead

peacedove · 11/02/2006 22:59

Thanks for the link, MT. The Vesuvius eruption also preserved a lot for us and there should indeed be an effort to retrieve the papyrii (if there are any).
