thought it would be nice to have a thread to discuss events and thoughts

my ds(10) is absolutely obsessed with the titanic and can take in all the facts with a sort of detached feeling

i find it really sad and some of the stories really upsetting..

My worst fear is drowning (also heights, flying and pigeons, they are on a par), so the idea of being trapped underwater makes me feel ill. So although I luuuurve period dramas, can't watch either the Titanic movie or that new Julian Whatsit drama on ITV because I know it'll get to a scary bit and it'll give me the willies!

Living in Belfast means that you literally cannot escape all things titanic at the moment. It's quite nice to see a bit of unity for once; events happening, things opening and politicians not griping about something or other. The Titanic Centre is going to be amazing, can't wait to see it. It's £13 in though, the people at the door might as well be wearing a stripy jumper and carrying a big bag labeled "SWAG".

It is quite tragic that this place is best known for two things- violence, and a ship that sank.
