New meningitis vaccine

As this disease affects children from 0-5 do you think they will vaccinate after the baby's first year. For exapmle ds is coming up for 2 so would he be able to have it in April?

The pneumococcal disease vaccine they are talking about isn't new, they hae been giving it routinely in the USA for years. Its already available here on the NHS if you fall into certain vulnerable groups.

DD had hers ages ago through our US military healthcare service we use. I checked with our NHS Dr that they had no problem with it and I was told it was completely un-neccessary and they saw no reason for her to be given it, although they had no problem with her having it as soon as we told them we were getting it done on the base. Then the Dr was full of stories of how great it was and how lucky we were to be able to get it etc etc. It really made me angry as it was clear that he was very negative about it when he thought we were asking the NHS to provide it for her.

It just shows how often the medical advice we're given is biased as to what the surgery's budget is.

my Dd has already had this vaccine as her cousin died of pneumococcal meningitis in April, i had to get the Gp to order it in privately. we didnt even know about this form of meningitis until my niece contracted it.
i would definatley try and get it if possible.
