Thanks for reading this. I was going to try to sort it out myself, but as I am a bit 'one way', I thought I would get your opinions first. Right, this is the situation. Lets call her V, was given a 2 bed council house round the corner from her mum. She had to really campaign for this house and was living with her mum & SD in another 2 bedroom house. Finally, Haringey Council housed her. V's mum & SD spent a fortune doing up this house and she moved in. Within a week she was back at her mums. Reason - there was drug dealing going on openly, parties every night, cars pulling up at all hours etc. So they complained. Apparently the houses were raided - nothing found. One family got evicted.

So V has asked her housing officer if she can be moved. They have said 'no' because the problems have been identified and resolved. The poor girl is frightened to go back for her post as they all know that it was her.

She has been told that she cannot declare herself homeless as she has a perfectly good council house.

Anyone able to help here. It seems wrong.

She should go and see her MP. She has very good reason to believe she would be in danger there.

Typical housing department. I once knew someone whose husband was murdered by a member of the family a couple of doors down. When she asked to be re-housed, she was told that "you tenants have got to make more of an effort to resolve your differences".

C**ts.

you have an absolute right to make a homeless application and receive a written decision on the outcome with rights of appeal attached. She should insist on being assessed as homeless and obtain advice and representation to challenge any negative decision.
