Venus & Jupiter

Anyone else been doing a bit of planet gazing the last few nights? Really amazing to see Venus & Jupiter like they are at the moment - so lucky that we have clear skies too.
If you haven't seen them, look tonight. They were pretty much due West last night, so imagine they will be roughly there again tonight. Venus is the big one & Jupiter her smaller companion.

Last night was really cloudy but the night before we saw Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Venus and Sirius the Dog Star Grin

The sky is fabulous at the moment.
Did you see the half moon a couple of weeks ago with Venus right next to it...it was like something from a childs picture book.

If you saw Sirius then you saw Orion too as Sirius always follows on just behind Orion.

I love the sky at night!

Sirius was in the gap between 2 houses so we didn't see anything near it Grin

We normally miss all the celestial events because it always seems to be really cloudy on the night, but this week has been fantastic.

They have been close to each other for a couple of weeks I wondered what they where.

Turn round after seeing Jupiter and Venus and you will see Mars shining brightly with a red tinge opposite it, and then later on following the similar oath will be Saturn.

Brilliant, thank you Hula. Looks like it should be a clear night again for me tonight - so me & DCs will be checking out the planets again. DD is so excited, because they've just done planets at school & she was able to tell me that Jupiter was smaller than Venus & I felt absurdly proud.
