This anti rape campaign is really positive, isn't it?

Just seen this this morning:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-17251461

Am really pleased to see it - I know it's aimed at teenagers, but surely if they are educated at this age to know what rape actually is it will stand them in good stead all of their lives?

link

It does seem to be, I'm glad the message is starting to get through.

I like the fact that the question is asked of men/boys that if they could see themselves would they see rape? It's really encouraging.

Ooops, thanks for doing the link OddBoots

Yes, and even Nick Clegg was good in the interview and focussing on the lack of consent, rather than "no means no" which of course it does, but also not saying no doesn't necessarily imply that consent has been given, IYSWIM. People should be sure it's a Yes, not just not a No.

Good that the responsibility is on the boy, rather than "don't wear short skirts girls."

This is great. I found the focus when I was at school was all on how you might get pressured and here are some ways to say no, which wasn't massively helpful. Getting bots to look at their own behaviour has to be a good thing.

it's a good start. hope it's dramatic enough.

now police and judges need to do their part as well.

Nick Clegg got a bit muddled in the 'age of consent' thing, though.

Silverthorns · 05/03/2012 11:59

I think he didn't want to get drawn into it (in true politician style.) I had a friend at 15 who had consentingly entered into a sexual relationship with her 16 year old boyfriend- it's technically classed as rape but not the same as what's being portrayed in that advert.

Here is the official website to see the ad and other information on the "This is Abuse" campaign (which includes the new anti-rape campaign).
