Grrr. Hardly a surprise, but all the same...

DD1 has suggested we buy the Mirror in protest. Any other ideas?

Do you dare link??? Grin

lambethlil · 26/02/2012 09:08

Its not a link- I'm sure it's the same as the daily Sun, just that having shut down the NoW in contrition over phone hacking they have, as predicted, started publishing The Sun, which used to be Mon-Sat on a Sunday.

Here's a link explaining the back story.

If you want to protest, do the easiest thing in the world. Don't buy it! That's what I'm going to do.

Save cash, poke Murdoch in the face for such an obvious, cynical and contemptuous move.

lambethlil · 26/02/2012 09:54

Definitely niceguy, but as I never usually buy a Murdoch paper any day of the week, I don't think anyone's going to notice- however a surge in the Mirror's Sales today might be noticed.

As you already don't buy The Sun - why don't you continue to not buy it and not concern yourself with what other people choose to read

lambethlil · 26/02/2012 14:04

I'm concerned with what other people buy because some people aren't aware that it is NoW reopening and what Murdoch owns and how that impacts this country.

But you're not one of those people are you Nancy?

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 26/02/2012 14:38

No I'm not.

it isn't NOW - have you read it?

I hope it's a big success.

Bossybritches22 · 26/02/2012 15:41

It was poised to be launched the same month as NOW was closed,if not the same week, and then they delayed the launch so it wouldn't be seen as a straight swap. Hmm

Still wouldn't give Murdoch my money even if I was a NOW or SUN reader.

Nancy66 · 26/02/2012 15:49

No, that's incorrect. It was never going to be launched last summer.

Bossybritches22 · 26/02/2012 15:57

No? And how do you know this Nancy?

Nancy66 · 26/02/2012 16:01

Because i work in the industry and know senior execs on the Sunday Sun who worked on the launch

where did your information come from?

Bossybritches22 · 26/02/2012 16:17

Inside gossip like you but not as high up! Grin

Still wouldn't use it for my chip paper but if it keeps a few workers from the industry off the dole queue for a while then all good.

chipstick10 · 26/02/2012 18:07

I read the Sun and will continue to do so.

verityverbiage · 27/02/2012 01:32

The Sun on Sunday sold three million copies after it hit news stands across the country for the first time, Rupert Murdoch said

The media Tycoon took to Twitter to announce that sales of his new Sunday title exceeded expectations

Business as usual then eh?

Bossybritches22 · 27/02/2012 22:19

Yep verity seems like that, quelle surprise? Grin

edam · 27/02/2012 22:22

The NOTW was hacking Charlotte Church when she was 16. They got hold of her medical records, and the records of her mother, who appears to have been particularly vulnerable.

mercibucket · 27/02/2012 22:24

wouldn't have thought they sold many in Liverpool

Bossybritches22 · 27/02/2012 22:30

Yes heard that one Edam- think she was right when she said they weren't sorry at all just sorry they'd been caught.
