I used to think that posh came across as a really loving caring mum who had her priorities right.
Brooklyn seemed to go every where with her and there were lots of pics in the press of her dressed down out shopping etc with him. I really admired the way she juggled work and family life and respected the way she prefered not have a nanny but have family members help out.

In fact she said several times in interviews and I believe in her book that it was v important to her not to have a nanny, but to raise brooklyn as a family unit.

Am I the only one to think this has totally gone out of the window since she had Romeo.
That poor baby seems to have hardly seen his mother since he was born.
He has been taken to hospital 3 times in 5 weeks and only one of those times was his mother in the same country as him.
Not to the mention that those two kids must have no stucture or routine to there lives at all.
One minute there in Madrid the next London Then Manchestwr, then New York then Japan.
How many air miles has Romeo clocked up in just 14 mths. And how healthy is this?
To me she seems incredibly selfish, She has millions in the bank for gods sake, she can afford to cut back a little on the globe trotting surley even if just for a few months so the kids can settle in one place and perhaps she could be bothered to finally enrole brookly in school.
Rant over

charlize, it wasn't personal. at all.
i don't think you should get upset about something so inconsequential but for what it's worth I apologise if i upset you.

but if what I said did upset you then i suggest you don't go anywhere near the threads to do with:
GF
Breastfeeding
eating in supermarkets

charlize .. you should be proud that you have a thread that so many people want to post on ... I have started masses of threads in the past that have just bombed

MrsVBPosherThanGod · 19/11/2003 19:43

Oh No! My Agent just rang. Said that Madonna has put in a Counter-Bid to be the Patron Saint of Celebrity Mothers. She promised Johnny Paul he could front her next 3 Live Concerts. Plus Maddy is a Catholic. That will Clinch it for sure. The Evil B***H. What Do I Do???

You could challenge her to a Celebrity Weigh In. Same rules as golf, so lowest score wins. Or maybe a Celebrity IQ Challenge. Obviously, same rules again.

If we are bitching about celebrities being bad parents, the Beckhams aren't first on my list. They seem quite family-focused and the kids seem to live in some kind of extended family-unit.....
I am more concerned about children of all these drunken celebs falling out of nightclubs and going to rehab every 2 seconds. And Kate Moss smoked during her pregnancy which in my eyes is something you should go to prison for.

WSM · 20/11/2003 12:08

Yikes Fairymum !!!

WSM · 20/11/2003 12:08

That smoking comment should take the heat off charlize for a while at least

Northerner · 20/11/2003 12:17

And that Meg Matthews woman. She is utterly vile.

CountessDracula · 20/11/2003 12:36

Who cares about any of these people? I certainly don't. They can do what they want (esp if it's chopping off their own heads or falling in vats of boiling oil, at least would provide entertainment)

suedonim · 20/11/2003 12:43

If we're measuring bad mums by the amount they haul their offspring round the world, then I guess I'm a contender because dd2 has taken no less than 20 flights since last Xmas. I haven't noticed any lasting damage, though maybe she'll turn into Lizzie Borden when she's grown up!!

oliveoil · 20/11/2003 12:49

Leave Meg Matthews alone Northener I think she gets a bad press. Crap dress sense however and bad hair.

Angeliz · 20/11/2003 13:31

o.k sod it, i have been wondering whether or not to reply to fairymum and thought "what's the point", but can't help myself! I smoked during pregnancy!....i found i was alot more addicted than i thought as i'd always said if i ever got pregnant i'd stop at once! I went from 15ish) a day to 2 or 3 when i was DESPERATE for one! I had a very relaxed pregnancy, read alot, baked alot (for the first time in my life) and ate all the right foods. I cried my eyes out at my second scan incase there was anything wrong because of my smoking, i left the room and had to go back in after a good cry. I now have a gorgeous daughter and i still smoke a few a day! All of this post is trying to say is, i think i'm a good mam, i have one bad habit , do i really deserve to go to prison for that? Fairymum, are you actually that perfect to make such comments? ( or were you waiting for some mug like me to drop myself in the shit and wait for all the opinions!)

Northerner · 20/11/2003 13:41

Angeliz I too was a pregnant smoker. Only about 1/2 a day like you. Yes I felt bad about it, I still feel pretty bad about it although I don't smoke in the house and NEVER around ds. I would never dream of blowing smoke in ds's face, yet I smoked when pregnant which equates to the same thing I guess. But going to prison for it? No Way, there are far worse things Mums can do IMO.

OliveOil - are you Meg's BF or something?! And you didn't mention the bad skin and very bad boob job!

charlize · 20/11/2003 13:51

Angeliz, Don't beat yourself oabout it.
The important thing is you tried to give up and you did really well to cut down so much.
I've never smoked so I don't know but I can imagine its extremely difficult to stop.
However I don't like Kate moss either, but not cos she smoked.
I remember when her dd was born, the press didn't get a picture of her till she was about 4mths old.
Despite the paparratzi being camped outside her house, the baby simply didn't leave the house.
She was cared for by a nanny whilst KM carried on partying.
I always remember that first picture of KM after her dd was born. It was about 4 days later and she was out having lunch with friends minus dd. She then carried on to a nightclub . Although I never remember her getting lamblasted in the press for this, they seem to be more interested in commenting on her figure.

charlize · 20/11/2003 13:56

Then again, Iam only jealous because it took me longer than 4 days to wash my hair and get dressed after delivery.
And as for actually leaving the house.....
The chance of going to a nightclub now after 3yrs would be a fine thing.

tomps · 20/11/2003 14:02

Can't be bothered reading all this, but just to add that I was really disappointed when I saw a picture of her taking Romeo to a Macdonalds in Spain. What a shame

charlize · 20/11/2003 14:06

Tomps I actually thought this was the most normal down to earth thing she'd done in a long time. Give the kid a happy meal Who needs the Ivy.

OP posts:
Northerner · 20/11/2003 14:06

Why did that dissapoint you Tomps?

I wasn't trying to turn it into a "smoking-during-pregnancy-thread" as I am sure that's been discussed on MN many times before. I was just putting VB's shortcoming into perspectives. I think they are quite good role models. If my DD should admire a celeb, I would rather she admired VB than certain other celebs.
It is my personal opinion that the worst thing I see is a pregnant woman who smokes or people who smoke around small children. I think think it's totally disgusting. Prison might be a bit over the top. I settle for community service,-)

tomps · 20/11/2003 14:18

Northerner because the kid's not old enough to know macd exists unless he's taken there, certainly not old enough to pester to go there, and would probably be just as happy with a cheese sarnie and an apple which would be much better for him nutritionally. So I was disappointed that VB who is a role model to so many was effectively endorsing the feeding of products high in fat, salt and sugar to a little person who deserves better. That's why.

oliveoil · 20/11/2003 14:20

Northener - agree on boob job - grapefruit anyone?

I reckon Meg Matthews would be a good laugh, I am not her BF (does this job not fall to Ms Moss?).

Re McD's - what is wrong with the occasional trip there? Dd hasn't been yet although could have had a secret trip there with granny, who knows.

Re smoking - wrong thread! yadda yadda yadda

Re clubbing mums - if someone could have taken dd away and given me a snazzy foxy chick make over in the first 4 weeks, I would have been OVER THE MOON, bring it on.
