Shock
EdithWeston · 19/02/2012 07:53

Better get a list of what supplies he had in the car (for zombie planning).

MrsSnaplegs · 19/02/2012 08:23

Maybe he's "the one" for StrattersGrin clearly has good survival techniquesWink

Wow, thanks for the heads up, that is some sort of superhuman.

EduStudent · 20/02/2012 15:23

He must have had one impressive OFRS.

Birdsgottafly · 20/02/2012 15:44

Or lots of body fat to live off good excuse to abandon the diet

EdithWeston · 20/02/2012 18:40

It's a real feat of survival - in temperatures down to minus 30. And unless he ate his passengers, no sign of adequate food supply.

The article says he's in his 40s, and my guess is he's single as no-one reported him missing, poor thing.

VivaLeBeaver · 20/02/2012 18:51

I read he just ate water snow for all that time. He must have been cold and hungry.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/02/2012 18:57

They said on the news he was small and not fat to start with.

EdithWeston · 20/02/2012 21:09

Maybe he was a visiting Norwegian an started the journey with several reindeer strapped to the car?

Animation · 21/02/2012 07:45

The doctors said that he could have gone into a kind of hiberation like animals do. Suppose that could make sense. If animals can do hibernation and not eat for weeks human (animals) can too.

AprilSkies · 21/02/2012 22:14

It's amazing isn't it? He must have had enough fat to survive

cory · 22/02/2012 22:47

There was something in the papers about him having eaten "a salve or ointment". That will no doubt have been the Swedish Army's Skin Salve- reputedly very nutritious and useful as a cooking fat in an emergency.

If you look at the links in the bottom left the plot thickens

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/sweden/9096534/Swede-who-survived-two-months-in-car-wanted-to-hibernate.html

he had adult nappies in there, it all looks a bit planned?

EdithWeston · 22/02/2012 23:11

That's a little weird.

outofbodyexperience · 23/02/2012 00:19

oh dear...

he wasn't even snowed in. he was just parked up in the woods. could have got out any time he wanted, but he didn't want to. despite the fact he was holed up in a car of used adult nappies.

hopefully he's now on the radar of the local mental health team. at least they can allocate a worker to check up on him periodically, even if they can't keep him out of the car without sectioning him... poor bloke.

MrsSnaplegs · 23/02/2012 04:33

Very sad really Sad

OP posts:
HillyWallaby · 23/02/2012 04:42

Confused he could have at least got out of the car to take a shit in the woods for crying out loud! So was there a pile of nappies found just outside the car window then or what? How odd.

outofbodyexperience · 24/02/2012 00:24

I think they were inside the car, hilly. Apparently the smell when they opened the car door was what made the people who discovered him report it to the police. He was only opening the window to get snow to drink...

Hibernating is a lovely idea (quite fancy it myself sometimes) but I'm not sure this was the way to go about it. I think a few months in bed watching jezza kyle with on tap room service and an en suite would be more preferable. And then you could star on the show when it was time to rejoin the world... No need for an OFRS, you could just call housekeeping Grin
