I was very much of the opression (until a week ago) that maybe knox and sollectito were guilty - now weirdly Im switching in favour of it not being them.
Doubtless if I read the article I might switch back.........

I subscribe to a weekly delivered paper copy of The Week - its fab :)

You can't be anything other than sympathetic to the family of a murdered girl but locking up the wrong person doesn't solve anything. I feel particularly sorry that they were misled by the Italian police and legal system. The copper who led the investigation was clearly

sozzledchops · 14/02/2012 16:02

this is a hard one. If Knox and Sollecito are innocent then they should be allowed to get on with their lives and if they want a movie or to make money from it then I can't blame them. I feel for the Kerchers but these two can't be held accountable in any way and made to feel that they have to lay low and say nothing because they were vilified (especially Knox) by the media and turned into figures of hate.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 14/02/2012 20:38

I am losing sympathy for the Kercher family now.

ohdearwhatdoidonow · 14/02/2012 20:39

Amazing what a White middle class PR campaign can achieve

VivaLeBeaver · 14/02/2012 20:41

Wow, can't believe prosecutors are pressing charges against Knox's parents for slander.

Ponders · 14/02/2012 20:50

If Meredith was my daughter I would be incandescent about reports of bidding wars for Amanda's story (& Raffaele's) however innocent they might be. There should be no question of anybody profiting financially from Meredith's death, even indirectly

CervixWithASmile · 14/02/2012 20:51

I'm not sure they're profiting. How else can they pay off the millions in legal fees?

sozzledchops · 14/02/2012 20:54

Profiting? You really think it was all a walk in the park for them? They have every right to talk about their side of the story.

Ponders · 14/02/2012 20:58

covering the legal fees would be reasonable

Hoolet · 14/02/2012 20:59

Knox and Sollecito didn't do it and will have plenty of valid things to say about what's happened to them. How can anyone begrudge them 'selling' their story? It's their life, they've suffered a lot, of course they want to get their side out there.

Ponders · 14/02/2012 21:03

they've suffered because of an Italian miscarriage of justice (apparently) & so have the Kerchers, actually.

Nothing could compensate for the Kerchers' loss of their daughter Sad

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 14/02/2012 21:05

The man who did this is already in jail. I totally understand the Kerchers wanting to see justice, but I'm puzzled as to why they think it's not already been done.

BustersOfDoom · 14/02/2012 21:10

Surely it's all academic? The USA aren't going to agree to any extradition request from Italy for AK or her parents. If Sollecito has any sense he'll leave Italy asap. I never believed they were guilty, Guede did it and is in jail.

Knox and Sollecito should be entirely free to sell their story and try and recoup some of the expenses the miscarriage of justice caused for them and their families. Not doing so won't help the Kerchers and I'll be amazed if the lawyers involved don't already have book deals lined up.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 14/02/2012 21:16

Knox and Sollecito have every right to sell their story. They have a huge amount of debt to cover, I'd say they actually owe it to the people that spent all that money on getting them out to try and recoup it. They would not be profiting from Merediths death, they would be profiting from what happened to them.

I can't understand why the Kerchers aren't focussing more on Guede.

frumperina · 14/02/2012 21:17

Sorry slightly off topic but i have to ask:
Could someone answer something that has always confused me about this case, please? I believe Guede pleaded guilty and had a quick trial. Did he say he acted alone or did he implicate the other two?

VivaLeBeaver · 14/02/2012 21:21

He implicated them as well. But I believe some prisoner has come forward to say that while in jail he told the other prisoner he was on his own.

frumperina · 14/02/2012 21:34

Aha, thank you.

redrubyshoes · 14/02/2012 21:42

This story has been covered many times in MN. Is there any need to rehash old and prefabricated news stories?

I would be interested to hear Amanda Knox/Raf Sollecito alibis as to their whereabouts that night as it has never really been established. That is all.

I think the Kercher family want to hear that as well.

[Yes I have read the Massei report]
